Job Description

The Development Team Lead has a dual role, acting as both solution architect and senior developer in the UK-based R&D group at Aucerna. This is a hands-on role. The Dev Team Lead role will suit someone with advanced knowledge of .NET and C# (back-end and Web APIs) and JavaScript (front-end) development. The successful candidate for this role should be experienced and comfortable working with large data sets and algorithms for calculating large batches of data. Leading a Scrum-based team, you will be writing code for Aucerna’s next generation corporate planning solutions, which support strategic decision making and capital planning in the oil and gas industry. The PlanningSpace platform is a fully enterprise multi-tiered, multi-tenanted application, that handles large volumes of data, with a powerful calculation engine used to perform cash flow forecasting. As we pursue a cloud-native strategy you will be involved in evolving existing WPF front-end applications to native HTML5 web applications and associated Web APIs. Your role may touch on any aspect from building JavaScript Single Page Applications using modern frameworks, adding features to WPF apps as required, middle-tier business logic on server side using C#, and profiling and optimising SQL Server performance.

 

Main Responsibilities

•         Managing a team of up to 6 developers

•         Hands-on coding using C# (back-end) and Angular/TypeScript/JavaScript/CSS/HTML5 (front-end)

•         Designing intuitive application workflows and user interfaces using WPF and HTML5

•         Designing and implementing middle-tier RESTful Web APIs

•         Excellent skills in developing, profiling and troubleshooting SQL Server schemas and stored procedures

•         Optimizing applications for performance

•         Following Agile/SCRUM practices, and making suggestions for continuous improvement in our development processes

•         Writing and reviewing technical design specs

•         Advising teams on new technologies and techniques

•         Mentoring other developers and performing code reviews

•         Influencing teams on ways to improve their software development practices

Qualifications

Required

•         Expertise (8+ years) in either C# (preferred) or Java

•         Experience with modern web application development using JavaScript/TypeScript and web frameworks, preferably Angular2+

•         Experience with enterprise architecture design patterns

•         Experience designing, implementing and interacting with RESTful Web API Services

•         Strong experience of developing and profiling SQL Server databases

•         Knowledge of source control systems and branching strategies, preferably Git or TFS (TFVC)

•         Experience working in an Agile/Scrum team

•         Excellent communication skills

•         Strong aptitude for problem solving

•         Ability to write good quality and testable code

•         Strong experience and understanding of ASP.Net Core, Entity Framework (or other ORM frameworks) and OData

•         Experience in a scaled agile framework preferred

•         Application of SOLID principles, TDD, and other engineering quality practices

•         Knowledge of CI/CD principles

Salary: Competitive. 

Job location: Can either be in London or Aberdeen. It can be up for discussion.
