Job Description

Job Title:  Teacher, Intervention, Elementary                                                 

Reports To:  Principal

Summary

Auburn-Washburn Intervention teachers demonstrate a commitment to learning for all students by maintaining organized, child-centered classrooms, by presenting content-rich and standards-based lessons and activities, by meeting individual needs through the use of assessments and data, and by using a variety of instructional strategies that are reflective of current best practices and research. 

Intervention teachers provide instruction and use teaching techniques that help each student master the skills appropriate to age, grade level, and individual capacity.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 ·  Use a variety of research-based instructional practices and current resources that support instructional goals and learner needs

·  Modify support to meet individual needs

·  Demonstrate knowledge of how subject matter/disciplines are integrated

·  Demonstrate how subject matter is organized

·  Support effective  implementation of the district-adopted curriculum

·  Use monitoring techniques to facilitate learning

·  Assist in the administration and interpretation of progress monitoring and diagnostic assessments

·  Use a variety of data in making instructional decisions

·  Collect, organize and submit data, reports and other information to inform building and district practices

·  Create a positive, inviting, and safe learning environment

·  Model enthusiasm for learning and teaching

·  Communicate high expectations to all learners

·  Incorporate use of appropriate technology

·  Treat students, patrons, and colleagues with dignity and respect

·  Communicate effectively and promote positive interpersonal relationships

·  Support the District’s educational mission for all students and implement all Board regulations and policies in a fair and equitable manner

·  Seek, listen, and respond appropriately to suggestions, requests, and concerns

·  Provide content knowledge and resources to staff about learning and teaching

·  Collaborate and contribute within a professional learning community

·  Maintain confidentiality

·  Engage in continuous learning and on-going professional development

·  Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the superintendent or designee may assign

Certificates/Licenses/Endorsements/Registrations

Kansas teaching license required

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree required

Evidence of at least three years of successful classroom teaching experience

 

Knowledge and Skills

Effective problem solving

Effective communication skills

Evidence of planning and organization skills

Ability to structure own time and management of multiple priorities

Knowledge and experience in curriculum implementation

Knowledge of effective instructional strategies and research-based best practices
