Job Description
The Opportunity:
We are currently seeking a Supervisor for our Environmental Contaminants team. It is a permanent role based at our Wellington Laboratory.
The successful applicant will be responsible for supervising members of the team and providing leadership to ensure that their specific area of responsibility operates efficiently and effectively. They will be the go-to Person for day-to-day activities and will be supporting the Chemical Extraction Team Leader. Our Supervisor will be working alongside their team to ensure the functions of the Environmental Team are met on a day to day basis.
This is a hands-on operational role and will require our successful applicant to be able to meticulously plan their teams workflow to enable the smooth transition of extracted samples between multiple stakeholders across the laboratory, working as an enabler to ensure lab KPI’s are met, and external customers receive high quality results in a timely manner.
Your key duties will involve:
• Ensuring suitably qualified and/or trained staff are available to meet delivery requirements.
• Liaising with other lab Supervisors to ensure workflow is maintained.
• Ensuring samples are extracted on schedule and in a timely manner.
• Resolving issues and ensuring staff are trained and competent in their roles.
• Prioritisation of urgent and regulatory required testing
• Ensure all staff are strictly adhering to regulatory quality assurance procedures
• Ensuring all relevant records are kept up to date
• Actively promote, lead and develop staff through feedback and coaching catch ups
• Be actively involved in all the day to day improvement activities
• Complete special projects as and when required
• Participate and contribute to H&S and safety continuous improvement initiatives.
About you:
To be successful in this role you will have:
• Preferably a Tertiary qualification, Bachelor of Science, with a focus on Chemistry or Food Science.
• Previous Experience in a managerial role, preferably with a keen focus on scheduling and team maximisation.
• Excellent communication skills both written and oral
• Computer literacy (Word, Power BI, Excel, and LIMS)
• Previous experience with Document Reviewing (SOP’s)
• Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
• Motivated and positive attitude and the ability to engage at all levels within the organisation.
