Job Description
The Opportunity:
We are currently seeking a Supervisor for our Sample Reception and Preparation team. It is a permanent role based at our Wellington Laboratory.
The successful applicant will be responsible for supervising members of the team and providing leadership to ensure that their specific area of responsibility operates efficiently and effectively. They will be the go-to Person for day-to-day activities and will be supporting the Service Delivery Team Leader. Our Supervisor will be working alongside their team to ensure the functions of the Sample Reception and Preparation Team are met on a day to day basis. This is a hands on operational role which will require logging samples in and verifying projects, as well as liaising with multiple stakeholders across the laboratory and external customers.
Your key duties will involve:
• Ensuring samples received at the laboratory are logged into our Laboratory Inventory Management System (LIMS) within 24 hours of receipt and with accuracy
• Liaising with customers and technical experts to ensure testing requirements are adequate
• Ensuring samples are prepared on time and ready for testing through active scheduling of work and communication with other supervisors
• Ensuring the team are trained and competent in their roles and help trouble shooting as required
• Prioritizing urgent samples when required to meet customer requirements
• Ensuring all staff are strictly adhering to regulatory quality assurance procedures
• Ensuring all relevant records are kept up to date
• Actively promoting, leading and developing staff through goal setting, feedback and coaching catch ups
• Be actively involved in all the day to day improvement activities
• Complete special projects as and when required
• Contributing to our safety culture by leading Safety and Wellbeing initiatives, maintaining high safety standards at all times, conducting safety internal audits and leading by example
About you:
To be successful in this role you will have:
• Preferably a Tertiary qualification, Bachelor of Science, with a focus on Chemistry or Food Science.
• Previous Experience in a Service Delivery/Sample Reception role.
• Excellent communication skills both written and oral
• Computer literacy (Word, Power BI, Excel, and LIMS)
• Previous experience with Document Reviewing (SOP’s)
• Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
• Motivated and positive attitude and the ability to engage at all levels within the organisation.
