Astroscale U.S. Inc. is currently seeking a Director of Policy. In this role you report into the SVP Policy and General Counsel and lead the Policy team in support of our mission to inform policy to reduce orbital debris and support the long-term, sustainable use of space.
Job Description
- Serve as Astroscale U.S.’s policy subject matter expert, developing and maintaining expertise in key policy areas, including space sustainability, on-orbit servicing, satellite regulations, and spectrum management.
- Lead the Policy team’s impact on all aspects of space policy and civil space legislation.
- Solve complex, nuanced policy challenges using research, industry standards, and prior industry experience.
- Stay up to date on current and emerging policy trends, resources, and mitigations within the space industry and in adjacent relevant industries.
- Oversee and conduct relevant research and policy analysis projects and monitor progress and deliverables.
- Produce high-quality written materials, such as reports, issue briefs, fact sheets, blogs, and letters on issues related to portfolio.
- Work with the Marketing and Communications team on press strategies, serve as spokesperson on relevant issues, and assist in drafting key statements and releases.
- In coordination with the Astroscale U.S. Government Relations team, develop and implement the strategy to shape legislation in support of company objectives, including crafting messaging and materials and representing Astroscale U.S. and its policy interests with external and internal stakeholders.
- Lead U.S. Government policy engagements, manage external consultants, and support strategy initiatives.
Qualifications
- Established professional experience working in the space industry.
- 10+ years of expertise in one or more of the following policy areas: space sustainability, satellite regulations, spectrum management, or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. Government space programs, budgets and history, relationships with relevant congressional stakeholders, and experience leading, tracking, and implementing legislative strategy are required for this position.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills, including public speaking.
- Able to support multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and meet competing deadlines.
- Engage in a collaborative, supportive, and fun work environment that values open and direct communication and knowledge-sharing.
- Comfortable working with government regulatory entities and policy-makers, agency leadership, and representing Astroscale U.S. interests to diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
Additional Information
Salary range: $190,000-225,000. The salary range represents the low and high end of the Astroscale U.S. Inc. salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, knowledge, and ability as applicable to the role.
