Job Description

Planning

  • Lead and support company-wide planning and formulating the company’s future direction– ensure that strategic and operating budgets are developed and managed and support tactical initiatives.
  • Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans
  • Work with the Directors/CEO on the strategic vision including fostering and cultivating stakeholder relationships on all levels, as well as assisting in the development and negotiation of key contracts.
  • Work closely with the directors, CEO and management teams to develop progressive business plans which generate growth and shareholder value.
  • Develop financial and tax strategies
  • Manage the capital request and budgeting processes
  • Develop performance measures that support the company's strategic direction
  • Conduct regular reviews and assessment of all existing financial plans and budgets with a view to continually improve the companies’ financial position and performance.
  • Ensure adequate cash flow to meet the organisation's needs

Operations

  • Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team
  • Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team
  • Manage the accounting, investor relations, tax, and treasury activities for the group
  • Oversee the financial operations of subsidiary companies and affiliate companies.
  • Manage any third parties to which functions have been outsourced
  • Oversee the company's transaction processing systems
  • Implement operational best practices
  • Supervise acquisition due diligence and negotiate acquisitions
  • Evaluate, support and assist in the procurement and implementation of new computer software and systems.
  • Train the Finance Unit and other relevant staff to effectively carry out their roles and raise awareness and knowledge of financial management matters.
  • Oversee all purchasing and payroll activity for staff and participants.
  • Ensure adequate controls are installed and that substantiating documentation is approved and available such that all expenditure may pass independent audits.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the inventory of all fixed assets

Financial Information

  • Oversee the issuance of all fiscal reporting activities for the organization including organizational revenue/expense and balance sheet reports.
  • Personally, review and approve all statutory filings with the relevant authorities.
  • Report financial results to the Board of Directors
  • Provide appropriate and timely information to the Executive Leadership Team and the Business Unit Leaders.
  • Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly and annual accurate financial reports for the Board of Directors

Risk Management

  • Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile
  • Monitor all open legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting the industry
  • Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization.
  • Maintain appropriate insurance coverage
  • Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
  • Report risk issues to the board of directors
  • Maintain relations and oversee the activity of the external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations.
  • Direct and collaborate with the accounting and finance team to ensure the existence and adherence of internal control systems, supported by a documented policy.

Funding

  • Monitor cash balances, cash forecast and banking activities of the organization
  • Arrange for debt and equity financing
  • Invest and advise the Board on optimisation of capital

Third Parties

  • Participate in conference calls with the investment community
  • Maintain banking relationships
  • Represent the company with investment bankers and investors
  • Oversee administration and financial reporting of the organization's Savings and Retirement Plan.

Qualifications

This position would suit a CARICOM National from a non-corporate Background who must be hands on, familiar with openings, someone who has worked private, who can formulate systems and teams since the company needs organising from the ground up, someone who is able to get along with different styles of people and manage the company.

Additional Information

Salary: $80,000 USD 

No personal income tax in Antigua.
