Job Description

Summary
The Steward maintains cleanliness of kitchen, loading dock, and back of house area. They maintain cleanliness of tableware, glassware, and kitchen equipment while minimizing breakage. 

Job Posting Deadline

Essential Job Functions
•   Scrape, stack, and clean all dishes properly
•   Store dishes and silver in the designated locations 
•   Set up cleaning area: put dish machine together properly, fill all water tanks, and turn on heating elements to dish machine
•   Pre-soak silver and change water after major meal periods
•   Sort silver properly 
•   Keep dish area clean and neat according to policy 
•   Post appropriate caution signs when the floor is wet or being mopped to ensure the highest level of safety in the kitchen 
•   Disassemble, clean, and re-assemble dishwasher prior to end of shift
•   Neatly stack all remaining dirty china, glassware, and silver prior to the end of shift
•   Return all clean china, glassware, and silver to proper storage areas
•   Clean kitchen walls, floors, loading docks, and other associated areas at the proper time
•   Empty boxes and garbage at the proper time 
•   Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

•   Must be at least 16 years of age 
•   High School Diploma or high school equivalent preferred 
•   6 months to 1 year of back of house experience preferred

Supervision Given and Received
Given: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Received: Works under direct supervision of the Executive Chef. Tasks are assigned according to specific procedures, and work is checked frequently. Instruction, advice and assistance are readily available.

Work Environment and Physical Demands 
•    Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, walk or be on your feet for extended periods of time. 
•    Regularly work in wet, hot and humid conditions for extended periods of time and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces.
•    Must be able to constantly lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
