Job Description

Aspen One is seeking an experienced and dynamic Vice President of Corporate Communications to lead our communications strategy and execution. This role is crucial in shaping the narrative of Aspen One, enhancing our brand reputation, and fostering strong relationships with stakeholders across various platforms. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in corporate communications, crisis management, and media relations. They will work closely with the executive leadership team to align communications strategies with business goals and ensure consistent messaging across all channels.

The budgeted salary range for this position is $175,000-245,000 Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience; all our salaried roles are eligible for bonus.

Essential job functions: 

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive corporate communications strategy that aligns with Aspen One's business objectives and enhances the company’s reputation. 
  • Brand Management: Oversee and manage Aspen One’s brand image, ensuring consistent messaging and visual identity across all communication platforms, both internal and external. 
  • Media Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, influencers, and stakeholders. Act as the primary spokesperson for the company in all media engagements. 
  • Crisis Communications: Lead crisis communication efforts, providing strategic guidance and managing the company’s response to any potential issues or crises that may arise. 
  • Executive Communications: Collaborate with the executive team to develop and execute internal and external communications, including speeches, presentations, and public statements.
  • Collaboration and Support: Work closely with HR, Creative and Brand Services, and other departments to ensure that internal communications effectively reflect and support external messaging and brand positioning.
  • Community Relations: Partner with our community management team to manage community relations as well as local press. 
  • Content Development: Oversee the creation of high-quality content, including press releases, media kits, and executive speeches, ensuring alignment with the company’s voice and messaging. 
  • Internal Communications: Lead internal communications efforts to foster employee engagement, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and maintaining a positive company culture. 
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, partners, customers, and employees, to ensure clear and consistent communication. 
  • Measurement and Reporting: Establish metrics to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies and provide regular reports to the executive team, identifying areas for improvement and making data-driven decisions. 
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the corporate communications team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate communications, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. 
  • Proven experience in crisis management and media relations. 
  • Strong understanding of brand management and digital communications. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. 
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team. 
  • Experience working with senior executives and providing strategic counsel. 
  • Knowledge of the ski and hospitality industries is a plus. 

Additional Information

Supervision Given: Exercises minimal supervision over the communications team. Sets the overall objectives and resources available. Both, in consultation, develop deadlines, projects, and work to be done. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, interviewing, hiring, performance evaluation; recognition; disciplinary action; coaching, budgeting, and employee relations 
 

Supervision Received: Works under minimal supervision of Chief Brand Officer. Receives guidance in terms of broad goals and overall objectives and is responsible for establishing the methods to attain them.  
 

Work Environment and Physical Demands 

  • Ability to stand, type, and sit at desk/computer for most of the work shift executive repetitive movements 
  • No adverse or hazardous conditions
