Job Description

Summary

The Front Desk Supervisor will provide leadership, training, and direction to the front desk team. They will act as an active member of the front desk team when needed.

Essential Job Functions

  • Train and monitor staff
  • Welcome guests upon their arrival and assign rooms
  • Provide information about the hotel, available rooms, rates, and amenities
  • Work in our system “Alice” to impute maintenance requests
  • Respond to guests’ complaints in a timely and professional manner
  • Select and block rooms for arriving guests, book same day reservations, pre-register guests as required, and sometimes escort guests to their rooms
  • Coordinate with housekeeping to ensure all rooms are clean, tidy, and fully-furnished to accommodate guests’ needs
  • Work closely with the guest services agents to coordinate the smooth and efficient handling of guest luggage at both check in and check out
  • Create unique baskets or special amenities for special guests 
  • Deals with all guest related issues as well as emergency and security situations in all areas of the hotel
  • Accept reservations, changes, and cancellations 
  • Make change, post charges, reconcile daily work, and make deposits
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

•    High School Diploma or equivalent required 
•    College degree in related field preferred 
•    1 year of management experience preferred 
•    3 year of front desk experience preferred

Supervision given and received
Given: Exercises direct supervision over front desk staff. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, frequent and detailed review of work, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 

Received: Works under limited supervision of Front Desk Manager. Receives guidance in terms of broad goals and overall objectives and is responsible for establishing strategical methods to attain them. Can formulate policies but does not necessarily have final authority for approval. Review of work is not detailed and emphasizes accomplishment of broad work objectives, rather than specific assignments. 

Work Environment and physical demands 
Ability to be on your feet, kneel and bend for extended periods of time. Regularly work in adverse conditions and requiring the use of protective apparel/equipment to prevent exposure to the elements as well as an office environment and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces. Must be able to lift, push or pull occasionally up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance.
