Job Description

Summary 

The Energy Manager is responsible for monitoring and controlling energy consumption and usage patterns throughout the organization and identifying areas where energy is used inefficiently.  Additionally, they are responsible to submit and execute energy saving projects, be involved in design and commissioning of all new construction projects, control day to day operational energy consumption and are responsible for creating and maintaining preventative maintenance software ensuring proper equipment operation. 

The budgeted salary range for this position is $72,800- $104,830. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience; all our salaried roles are eligible for bonus.

Essential Job Functions 

  • Monitor and track energy usage across the organization 
  • Set targets for energy reduction 
  • Prepare reports summarizing energy usage 
  • Train Facility Management personnel and educate employees 
  • Create training guides for company managers regarding energy consumption 
  • Perform regular audits on building systems (HVAC, lighting systems & controls) 
  • Work with Facility Management to ensure all HVAC and other equipment maintenance standards are best practice, and coordinate preventative maintenance 
  • Manage installation of and manage Building Automated Systems (BAS) 
  • Create and implement long-term strategies to meet ASC energy reduction goals 
  • Identify capital needs and equipment repairs for ASC’s building fleet 
  • Working with consultants and engineers, commission new mechanical systems and continuously-commission older HVAC, lighting systems and controls 
  • Secure outside funding and rebates as it is available for upgrades or retrofits 
  • Coordinate with consultants and contractors to identify energy reduction measures 
  • Support company-wide and community awareness/training initiatives to help educate others about energy reduction. This includes talking to the press 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Energy Management or related field 
  • Certified Energy Management Certification preferred 
  • Five years’ experience in energy management, HVAC systems design, construction, maintenance or a closely related field 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Supervision Given and Received  

Supervision given:  Exercises general supervision over assigned staff. Assigns a variety of routine tasks, sets general expectations of results expected within company’s policies and procedures. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.  

Supervision received: Works under general supervision of Managing Director of Facilities Energy Management. Receives continuing or individual assignments according to supervisor’s directions and may perform routine tasks. Expectations of the quality, quantity and deadlines are clearly set. Instructions, advice and assistance available as needed. Work is reviewed on demand or during scheduled check-ins.   

Work Environment and Physical Demands  

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions and extreme cold (non-weather). The employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  Frequent work in a standard office environment. Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, bend or be on your feet for extended periods of time. 
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. 

Certain locations will require an employee to ski or snowboard.
