Job Description

The Trails Worker is responsible for general maintenance of on-mountain trails while promoting a positive guest experience. 

Essential Job Functions 

  • Maintain on-mountain trails by performing dirt work, rock picking, brushing and revegetation including but not limited to seeding, fertilizing and hay blowing on mountain terrain 
  • Maintain tools and equipment 
  • May engage guests to promote a positive guest experience 
  • Operate chainsaw (as required) 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Valid, current unrestricted Driver’s License required 
  • Comfortable working on mountain terrain including steep grades 
  • Attend fire prevention training (as required) 
  • Attend forklift and ATV training (as required) 
  • Attend first aid training (as required) 
  • Attend chain saw safety class (as required) 
  • Current Red Cross or American Heart Association CPR preferred 
  • High school degree or equivalent preferred

Supervision Given and Received
Supervision given:
Exercises direct supervision over assigned staff. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, frequent and detailed review of work, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems    
Supervision received: Works under limited supervision of the Area Manager. Receives guidance in terms of broad goals and overall objectives and is responsible for establishing strategical methods to attain them. Can formulate policies but does not necessarily have final authority for approval. Review of work is not detailed and emphasizes accomplishment of broad work objectives, rather than specific assignments 

Work Environment and physical demands   

Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, bend or be on your feet for extended periods of time. Regularly work in wet, cold, hot conditions requiring the use of protective apparel/equipment to prevent exposure to the elements and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces. Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance (weight limits can vary according to position, but no more than 50)
