Job Description

The Lead Transfer Driver will be responsible for overseeing the loading and unloading of all retail, rental and non-inventory product on transfer vehicles. They will also be responsible for ensuring that transfer schedules are met and the vehicles are being maintained and operated to company standards by the transfer team.

Essential Job Functions

  • Coordinates the drivers to pick up and deliver bikes, retail transfers and other items between Rental/Retail stores, the Warehouse and other designated Aspen Skiing Company and external locations
  • Ensures all bikes are carefully loaded in an organized fashion by all team members to prevent damage to rental equipment.
  • Organizes bikes and helmets according to appropriate destination and ensures all product is correctly delivered to home locations.
  • Ensures cleanliness standards for vehicles and transfer areas of the warehouses are maintained.
  • Loads trucks, organizing to maximize available space. Unloads trucks at destinations
  • Records pickup and delivery information in log books
  • Ensures all drivers maintain safe practices as transfers are done at night, on varying road conditions, and on slick, ice-covered walkways
  • Maintains truck logs according to state and federal regulations
  • Maintains telephone contact with Transfer Manager and Transfer Drivers
  • Recognizes emergency situations and performs emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires and installing fuses
  • Balance team and individual responsibilities by working with the Rental/Retail team. Remain dependable and adaptable.

Qualifications

•    Must be at least 18 years of age
•    Valid, current, unrestricted driver’s license required
•    High School diploma or equivalent required
•    1-3 Years of commercial vehicle operation experience preferred 
•    Forklift training is preferred

Supervision Given and Received
Given: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Received: Works under general supervision of Summer Transfer Manager. Receives continuing or individual assignments according to supervisor’s directions and may perform routine tasks. Expectations of the quality, quantity and deadlines are clearly set. Instructions, advice and assistance available as needed. Work is reviewed on demand or during scheduled check-ins.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, see, hear, sit, drive a shuttle/car for extended periods of time; squat, kneel and bend 
Regularly work/drive in adverse weather conditions.  Frequently drive in bright sunlight and at night. Exposure to noises that cause distraction and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces 
Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance (weight limits can vary according to position, but no more than 50)
