Job Description

Summary 
The Fly Fishing Guide instructs guests on lakes, rivers and streams. Responsible for transportation, equipment and supplies using TLN vehicles and/or float boat. Provides knowledgeable, interpretive commentary of the land, the environment and the history. Guides must enjoy spending time with multiple guests in conditions that require excellent teaching, communication and guest service skills. As a part-time member of the roster, this position is on-call, may only guide a few trips a season, and is best suited for a candidate already established in the Roaring Fork Valley. 

Essential Job Functions
•    Conducts guided trips
•    Instructs guest in fishing skills
•    Advises guests regarding fishing regulations
•    Provides opportunity to fish with maximum possibility of success
•    Cleans assigned vehicle and/or boat and equipment
•    Specific knowledge of fly fishing and guiding the waters of the Roaring Fork area including Carbondale and Glenwood Springs
•    To ensure safety of guests and vessels
•    Current CPR and First Aid

Qualifications

•    Fishing skills-When, Where, How
•    Communication skills; to entertain and inform
•    Knowledge of area fishing regulations and/or boating regulations
•    Knowledge of safety, emergency and life saving procedures
•    Knowledge of weather patterns
•    Knowledge of company policies and procedures
•    Clear driving record

Additional Information

Supervision Given and Received 
Given: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 
Received: Works under direct supervision of Guest Services Manager. Tasks are assigned according to specific procedures, and work is checked frequently. Instruction, advice and assistance are readily available.

Work Environment and Physical Demands 
•    Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, bend or be on your feet for extended periods of time 
•    Regularly work in wet, cold, hot conditions requiring the use of protective apparel/equipment to prevent exposure to the elements and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces
•    Must be able to occasionally lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance (weight limits can vary according to position, but no more than 50)
