Job Description

Summary 
The Banquet Captain, ASPENX Experiences leads and assists in the service and coordination of all banquet functions. This positions partners with the Sr. Experiences Manager in aspects of event planning, staffing and provides support for all ASPENX Experiences. 

Essential Job Functions
• Oversee the set-up of functions including checking of the physical layout of the space, providing the servers with the proper set-up information and posts updated function sheets in the banquet kitchen
• Create and maintain a list of on-call banquet staff to allow for execution of ASPENX Experiences
• Coordinate with Chef on execution of ASPENX Experiences as inquiries come in through ASPENX Director of Sales
• Build relationships with catering companies within the valley for execution of ASPENX Events as they continue to grow and expand beyond Aspen Mountain
• Conduct pre-service meetings with staff. Attend monthly department meetings. Attend weekly banquet event order meeting for ASPENX Experiences
• Oversee the service of the function assigned to insure the success of the function and staff adherence to all service rules
• Meet individual hosts and make him/herself accessible to the host for any need that may arise 
• Properly close all banquet checks and complete the captain’s logbook at the completion of the function
• Oversee the clean-up of all functions and insuring the proper removal and storage of hotel linen and skirting
• Report all incidents to the Banquet Director or Senior Client Experiences Manager  • Prepare and post daily assignments for servers including specific times for set-up and service
• Oversee proper clean up, handling and storage of all props and specialty china
• Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by hotel management and staff
• Ensure the proper care, security and maintenance of hotel equipment through proper supervision of service personnel
• Constantly monitor the staff’s appearance, attitude and degree of professionalism
• Responsible for assisting all team members in organization of kitchen items, to include, dry goods, kitchen equipment, storage containers, cleaning supplies and proper rotation and organization of all food deliveries
• Complete tasks and projects delegated by your Supervisor and assist other departments as business volumes and staff levels demand
• Enforce and comply with all policies and procedures for ASPENX, the Food and Beverage Department, The Little Nell and the Aspen Skiing Company

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Three years in food and beverage service required
• Previous Banquet experience strongly preferred
• Wine knowledge, knowledge of food and cooking methods, ability to work well with people, strong organization and supervisory skills

Additional Information

Supervision Given and Received 
Given: Exercises direct supervision over Experiences Banquet staff. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, frequent and detailed review of work, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Received: Works under direct supervision of the Senior Client Experiences Manager, & Director of Banquets. Tasks are assigned according to specific procedures, and work is checked frequently. Instruction, advice and assistance are readily available.

Work Environment and Physical Demands 
•  Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, walk or be on your feet for extended periods of time
•  Regularly work in wet, hot and humid conditions for extended periods of time and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces
•  Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
