Job Description

Summary
The Director of Housekeeping is responsible for directing and overseeing all Housekeeping operations and financials to ensure the overall cleanliness of the hotel and delivery of five star service. 
  
Essential Job Functions
• Ensure cleanliness, service and product quality standards of guest rooms, public spaces, restrooms, offices and banquet/meeting/conference rooms in accordance with Forbes standards and all federal, local and company health, sanitation and safety standards
• Inspect daily all areas of responsibility, maintaining the highest quality standards.  This includes the public areas, sidewalks surrounding the front of the building and guest rooms
• Lead, direct and administer all Housekeeping operations to include, but not limited to, of systems use and management, budgeting and forecasting, inventory control, department management, policy and procedure implementation and enforcement
• Responsible for department financials to include building annual budget, ordering of supplies and guest room soft goods to par levels within budget and reporting on variances
• Work with all departments to meet their needs as they relate to cleanliness and uniforms
• Establish preventative maintenance programs to ensure appearance and life of all furniture, fixtures and equipment is maintained
• Oversee the administration and inspection of the uniform program, recommends replacements and changes as necessary
• Supervise the laundry operation to achieve maximum productivity, maintain quality standards and keep within prescribed costs
• Recruit, interview and train team members
• Monitor and develop team member performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision and professional development, scheduling, conducting counseling and evaluations and delivering recognition and reward
• Ensure proper usage of chemicals and cleaning supplies by monitoring usage, providing complete training for team members and ensuring proper labeling of hazardous supplies in accordance with federal, state, local and company regulations
• Participate in the coordination of property renovation and capital improvement projects in partnership with Property Operations and other departments
• Ability to motivate and inspire the team
• Make General Manager aware of guest’s comments and complaints
• Comply with all policies and procedures for the Housekeeping Department, The Little Nell, and Aspen Skiing Company
• Is familiar with hotel fire and safety procedures. Assist in emergency and security procedures as directed by management
• Complete tasks and projects delegated by your manager and assist other departments as business volumes and staff levels demand

The budgeted salary range for this position is $85,000-$100,000. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience, all our salaried roles are eligible for bonus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required  
• 5 years of management experience preferred  
• 7 years of housekeeping or cleaning experience preferred 
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Supervision Given and Received  
Given: Exercises direct supervision over the Housekeeping department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, frequent and detailed review of work, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 
Received: Works under limited supervision of the Director of Operations. Receives guidance in terms of broad goals and overall objectives and is responsible for establishing strategical methods to attain them. Can formulate policies but does not necessarily have final authority for approval. Review of work is not detailed and emphasizes accomplishment of broad work objectives, rather than specific assignments. 
 
Work Environment and Physical Demands  
Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, walk or be on your feet for extended periods of time. 
Regularly work in wet, hot and humid conditions for extended periods of time and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces. 
Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance.
