Job Description

Summary 
The Housekeeping Supervisor helps maintain high levels of cleanliness within guest rooms and public areas through inspection, reporting, and cleaning. They also help train and manage staff.
 
Essential Job Functions 
· Inspect rooms and public areas for overall cleanliness
· Monitor the speed of housekeeping staff to ensure all duties are completed in a timely manner  
· Brief housekeeping staff on events, occupancy of the day, and the cleaning focus of the day 
· Help train and manager housekeeping staff 
· Provide housekeeping staff with necessary tools to complete cleaning assignments   
· Assist in cleaning rooms and public areas as needed   
· Make housekeeping boards with the cleaning focus of the day 
· Walk public areas
· Maintain constant communication with front desk about early arrivals, late departures, and room requests 
· Stay abreast on occupancy of the day, departure and arrivals, event(s) of the day, VIP rooms, special requests, and guest reviews 
· Perform other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

·    High School Diploma or equivalent required 
·    2 years of management experience preferred 
·    5 years of housekeeping or cleaning experience preferred
·    Ability to communicate in English and Spanish preferred

Supervision Given and Received 
Given: Exercises direct supervision over housekeeping staff. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, frequent and detailed review of work, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Received: Works under supervision of Housekeeping Manager. Receives guidance in terms of broad goals and overall objectives and is responsible for establishing strategical methods to attain them. Can formulate policies but does not necessarily have final authority for approval. Review of work is not detailed and emphasizes accomplishment of broad work objectives, rather than specific assignments.
 
Work Environment and Physical Demands 
Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, walk or be on your feet for extended periods of time. Regularly work in wet, hot and humid conditions for extended periods of time and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces. Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance.
