Job Description

Summary
The Event Manager will upsell and coordinate social & corporate events at The Little Nell, private Aspen Mountain venues, as well as off premise locations.  You will determine all implicit and explicit needs of the client and communicate these details effectively with all necessary departments.  You will act as the liaison between the client and The Little Nell to ensure they receive a five star experience.

Essential Functions of the Job
• Actively solicits new catering business
•  Responds to incoming leads promptly and provide thorough follow up to secure the business
• Demonstrates professional and confident communication skills with clients and staff in person, over phone and email
• Attends local networking events and is actively involved in the community
• Executes legal binding documents to meet both the hotel’s and client’s needs
• Fosters relationships with repeat clients and potential clients
• Demonstrates creativity and passion and is able to create unique event concepts and ideas with clients
• Ensures client expectations are not only met, but exceeded at all times
• Maintains constant communication with the client and necessary vendors throughout the planning process
• Communicates all relevant event information with the necessary hotel departments, Aspen Skiing Company departments, and outside vendors by utilizing tools such as event orders, resumes, email, and department meetings
• Attends functions at the beginning of an event to acknowledge satisfaction and introduce banquet management
• Ensures 5 star quality standards in service and presentation are maintained at all times
• Is visible and available to departments and clients as needed
• Attends all required event, sales and hotel manager meetings
• Conducts pre-conference meetings with group clients to ensure final details and changes are discussed and introductions are made
• Manages and facilitates post event details including but not limited to client contact and billing review
• Plans and executes conferences and group functions sold by the group sales and event sales managers
• Is highly organized, and utilizes Delphi to maintain activity traces, contacts, prospecting, and all relevant event details
 
Additional Job Duties

• Complete tasks and projects delegated by the Director of Events
• Assist other departments as business volumes and staff levels demand
• Report to work in a neatly groomed and acceptable manner as outlined in the employee handbook and departmental rules
• Report to shift on time
• Enforce and comply with all policies and procedures for the Food and Beverage and Sales Departments, The Little Nell and the Aspen Skiing Company
• Available to work holidays, weekends, evenings, and flexible hours as required by business demands

This role typically pays around $70,000 + commissions, actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience, all our salaried roles are eligible for bonus.

Qualifications

• High school graduate (Required)
• College education (Preferred)
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Event Sales or Service at a management level (Required)
• Luxury Market Experience (Preferred)
• Knowledge of Delphi, Social Tables, Adobe, Microsoft Applications (Preferred)

Additional Information

Supervision Given and Received
Given: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 
Received: Works under direct supervision of the Director of Events. Tasks are assigned according to specific procedures, and work is checked frequently. Instruction, advice and assistance are readily available.

Work Environment and Physical Demands 
•    Ability to stand, type and sit at desk/computer for most of the work shift executing repetitive movements 
•    No adverse or hazardous conditions
•    Not required, but preferred to be able to occasionally lift, push or pull 25 lbs. individually or with assistance
•    Frequent exposure to gondola operations
