Job Description

The Audiovisual (AV) Technician is responsible for setting up and operating the video, audio, and lighting equipment used to enhance live events. This includes organizing and installing projectors, microphones, video monitors, soundboards, conference phones, and other related equipment.
 
Essential Job Functions
•    Set up and install microphones, lights, video monitors, projectors, speakers, conference phones, and video cameras
•    Assist with the set-up of meeting rooms prior to the event
•    Conduct sound, visual, and performance quality checks on AV equipment
•    Assist in the identification, diagnosis, and resolution of issues within the hardware and software ecosystems, as well as issues with video, sound, and networking
•    Assist the IT team with troubleshooting and enhancing guest/meeting room and staff technology
•    Lay electrical, video, and sound cables
•    Troubleshoot equipment and ensuring events run smoothly
•    Disassemble audio and visual equipment and packing up after the event
•    Meet with Event Coordinators to discuss audio, lighting, and video requirements
•    Maintain strong customer relations, and a polite and courteous attitude toward hotel guests
•    Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

•    Availability to work day, evening shifts, weekends, and/or holidays shifts may be required 
•    High School Diploma or high school equivalent preferred
•    At least 2 years in the in audio/visual or technology field preferred 
•    Knowledge of audio and video equipment (cable boxes, AV receivers, media players, microphones, power speakers, mixers, projectors), IP network equipment (Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and AVB), and computer systems (macOS and Windows operating systems) preferred 
•    Previous experience with Guest-Tek HSIA and OVV preferred

Supervision given and received 
Given:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Received: Works under direct supervision of the Event Sales Manager. Tasks are assigned according to specific procedures, and work is checked frequently. Instruction, advice and assistance are readily available.

Work Environment and physical demands 
Ability to stand, type and sit at desk/computer for most of the work shift executing repetitive movements. No adverse or hazardous conditions. Not required, but preferred to be able to occasionally lift, push or pull 25 lbs. individually or with assistance (weight limits can vary according to position, but no more than 50)
