Job Description

The Product Manager to develop the strategy, assortment, creative direction and future category expansion of our ASPENX retail brand. The role will design, source and purchase branded products from existing and new external vendors, as well as explore ground-up development. It will cover various product categories including apparel, accessories, home goods, kids and more. 

The budgeted salary range for this position starts at $79,847. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience, all our salaried roles are eligible for bonus. 

Job Responsibilities:
•    Develop multi-year strategy to build the ASPENX collections of premium products for retail, ecommerce and wholesale channels that fulfills our brand and financial objectives.
•    Develop annual purchasing strategy based on financials, vendor capabilities, environmental considerations, quality, timelines, pricing, minimums and design.
•    Lead seasonal, annual and rotational product development and designs.
•    Lead sourcing which may include travel to vendors and/or factories.
•    Coordinate with retail team and buyers to manage inventory on hand, min/max levels, inventory budgets, sales forecasts and in-store sales/discounts.
•    Work with Marketing team, Creative Director/team, and in-house/out-of-house designers to develop a brand perspective for any product that carries our name.
•    Review product, category, vendor performance indicators to track progress, fix any corrective actions and make future decisions.
•    Maintain inventory integrity via various inputs such as creating purchase orders, pricing, confirmation, transfers, distribution data and annual physical inventory.
•    Coordinate with visual merchandising team and store managers to ensure proper product training, selection and offering, including logo product in all stores.
•    Attend vendor meetings, trade shows, and conferences to learn about new products and industry trends as well as a willingness to travel to visit domestic and overseas suppliers as required.
•    Approve samples for production after a thorough evaluation of fit, measurement, pattern shaping, hanger appeal and functionality
•    Negotiate effectively product terms with local and overseas suppliers (cost, quality and delivery lead-times), securing cost efficiencies through effective bottom-up approach (open cost sheets) and accurate costing benchmarking.
•    Follow up on pre-production and production stages in a continuous communication with vendor closely on product deliveries matching agreed terms.
•    Interface with product developers and buying teams.
•    Research supplier innovations and support the design team in the development of new product categories.
•    Reporting on production status and sourcing planning.
•    Experienced and knowledgeable about luxury product design, suppliers, and factories.
•    Advanced knowledge about critical path, costing, manufacturing and calendar management.
•    Able to work under pressure maintaining attention to detail and accurate work in a fast paced and changing environment.
•    Other duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications

•    Bachelor degree required in Product Design preferred
•    Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a sourcing or production manager exclusively in the fashion industry
•    Experience in luxury fashion required
•    Strong computer skills including excel, Adobe creative suite, etc…
•    Must be able to lead, motivate and encourage others and possess very strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills
•    Experience working in startups and/or launching a new brand a plus

Supervision Given: Exercises general supervision over assigned staff. Assigns a variety of routine tasks, sets general expectations of results expected within company’s policies and procedures. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.     
                                                          
Supervision Received: Works under general supervision of the Business Development Director. Receives continuing or individual assignments according to supervisor’s directions and may perform routine tasks. Expectations of the quality, quantity and deadlines are clearly set. Instructions, advice and assistance available as needed. Work is reviewed on demand or during scheduled check-ins.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
Ability to stand, type and sit at desk/computer for most of the work shift executing repetitive movements  
No adverse or hazardous conditions 
Not required, but preferred to be able to occasionally lift, push or pull 25 lbs. individually or with assistance.
