Job Description

Summary 
The HVAC Refrigeration Maintenance Worker performs skilled/semi-skilled work in the operation/repair/maintenance of the following systems: Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.


Essential Job Functions
•    Properly trained and licensed for HVACR maintenance operations
•    Able to work without direct supervision
•    Able to respond to emergency situations
•    Able to organize and coordinate work orders
•    Maintains a polite and courteous attitude toward hotel guests
•    Maintains a clear, uncluttered work area
•    Able to perform duties of Assistant Chief Engineer in his absence

Additional Job Functions
•    Make Manager aware of guest's comments and complaints
•    Report to work in a neatly groomed and acceptable manner as outlined in the employee handbook
•    Report to shift on time
•    Comply with all policies and procedures for the Engineering Department, The Little Nell, and Aspen Skiing Company. Is familiar with hotel fire and safety procedures.
•    Assist in emergency and security procedures as directed by management
•    Perform a broad range of maintenance and repair duties in the hotel, including boilers, pipes, air filters, thermostats, pumps, belts, blower fans and bearings
•    He should be able to troubleshoot, diagnose, conduct repairs and re-program the electronic controls of the buildings computer energy related software
•    Have good leadership to instruct in performing routine maintenance in HVAC equipment
•    Capable of designing as well as installing new and innovative HVAC systems that are small to medium sized
•    Do data entry that is related to the preventive maintenance
•    Complete tasks and projects delegated by your manager and assist other departments as business volumes and staff levels demand

Qualifications

•    Properly trained and licensed for HVACR operations. Holds advanced CPR and First Aid certificates or willing to receive training within six months
•    Knowledgeable on hotel heating and cooling systems
•    Possesses basic computer skills and knowledge of electrical and plumbing operations
•    Possesses strong refrigeration skills

Additional Information

Supervision Given and Received 
Given: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 
Received: Works under direct supervision of Chief Engineer. Tasks are assigned according to specific procedures, and work is checked frequently. Instruction, advice and assistance are readily available.

Work Environment and Physical Demands 

•    Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, bend or be on your feet for extended periods of time
•    Regularly work in wet, cold, hot conditions requiring the use of protective apparel/equipment to prevent exposure to the elements and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces
•    Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
