Job Description

Summary 

Equal parts creator, dreamer, and doer, our Director of Content is obsessed with creating inspiring, informative, and distilled multi-channel messaging. S(he) is a never satisfied type of person, and will lead excellence, innovation, and execution of a brand at the intersection of recreation, culture, and nature. S(he) will lead a small and growing team of content creators, both internally and externally. His or her work will include every type of asset (photo, video, written word and beyond) across every existing and emerging channel (social, email, web and beyond). Our Director of Content is deeply centered in our brand strategy, and is able to bring it to life in ways that are both consistent and developing. Essential Job Functions

•    Develop a content strategy for our organization…and then go and execute to it
•    Run the daily, weekly, monthly, annual, and perpetual content process
•    Innovate constantly in terms of overall channels, features, treatments, types of production, delivery models, and more
•    Be both proactive and opportunistic in terms of what is featured on our channels
•    Be the editor for content copy, design, and message
•    Lead internal and external content creators
•    Coordinate Global Marketing & Sales team members across creative, acquisition, sales, and comms; as well as adjacent teams such as sponsorship, events, revenue centers, and more
•    Be the internal leader of our tone-of-voice and how it comes to life
•    Be a champion for the power of content and creative excellence in our organization
•    And let’s not forget…skiing on powder days

Qualifications

•    8+ years of experience in content, production, publishing, journalism, or entertainment related roles
•    Demonstrated ability to create a strategy grounded in both creative excellence and data insights, and execute to it
•    Deep understanding and recognition of great content, design, and writing
•    Demonstrated taste and craft across production work
•    Positive, collaborative attitude and drive
•    Able to work quickly, strategically prioritize multiple projects, and manage individual and team workloads in a fast-paced environment.
•    Demonstrated ability to scale ideas for global deliverables/impact and the resources it takes to implement.
•    Proficiency with marketing up and down the funnel
•    College degree required. 
•    Design background preferred.
•    Writing background preferred.
•    Previous experience in role at an agency or top brand.
•    Passion for outdoor sports preferred.

Additional Information

Supervision given and received 

Given:  Exercises general supervision over assigned staff. Assigns a variety of routine tasks, sets general expectations of results expected within company’s policies and procedures. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 

Received: Works under general supervision of the Creative Director. Receives continuing or individual assignments according to supervisor’s directions and may perform routine tasks. Expectations of the quality, quantity and deadlines are clearly set. Instructions, advice and assistance available as needed. Work is reviewed on demand or during scheduled check-ins. 

Work Environment and physical demands 
•    Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, walk or be on your feet for extended periods of time
•    Regularly work in wet, hot and humid conditions for extended periods of time and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces
•    Must be able to frequently  lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
