The Systems Engineer will interface with internal as well as outsourced resources to develop, implement and deliver technical solutions that will meet or exceed the stakeholders' expectations. The position exists to provide subject matter expertise in the domain and institutional knowledge for new development as well as life cycle management of existing client applications, systems, and tools. This role works in collaboration with the Chesapeake Regional Healthcare community as well as outsourced vendor engineering teams to provide consulting and delivery towards all aspects and phases of infrastructure design and development efforts. This position performs systems management and integration functions.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

These duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis; other tasks may be assigned.

  • Provide technical leadership as primary engineer and subject matter expert.
  •  Provide first-level support to other engineers to include assisting with non-standard out-of-box solutions.
  • Monitor system operation to detect potential problems.
  • Verify and maintain stability, interoperability, portability, security, and scalability of systems infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with staff and end-users to understand specific system requirements.
  • Collaborate with staff, end-users, or vendors to select appropriate design solutions and ensure the compatibility of system components
  • Collaborate with staff to guide strategies and identify risk areas.
  • Identify system data, hardware, or software required to meet organizational needs.
  • Analyze system or application usage and plan for growth.
  • Perform security analyses and audits of developed or packaged software components.
  • Research, test, and verify the proper functioning of software patches and fixes.
  • Provide technical guidance or support for the development or troubleshooting of systems.
  • Document and maintain strong knowledge of Datacenter Operations, Network Infrastructure, branch Sites.
  • Evaluate system component suitability for specified purposes and make recommendations regarding component use.
  • Evaluate existing systems to determine the effectiveness and suggest changes to meet organizational requirements.
  • Configure network and server components to meet functional specifications.
  • Develop application-specific software and packages.
  • Develop and test new business processes and capabilities as appropriate.
  • Plan, communicate and execute ongoing hardware and software maintenance operations, including installing or upgrading hardware or software.
  • Communicate project information through presentations, technical reports, or white papers.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to develop solutions that meet the business need while communicating the cost, time to production, alignment of Chesapeake Regional Healthcare resources; if necessary. Provide alternate solutions to the organization along with cost/benefit analysis.
  • Train users in system operation and maintenance.
  • Continuously test and validate business continuity and disaster recovery strategies to include network, and system backups.
  • Provide post-implementation support through service level agreements with staff and vendors.
  • Manage all Support Requests to timely and successful completion.
  • Assist the Enterprise Solutions Architect in composing Statements of Work or other documents, using departmental automation tools as available to craft detailed and accurate deliverables that specify processes, technology, staffing, and project management involved in proposed services solutions
  •  Ability to work independently and manage projects with proven project methodologies.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care.
  • Provide on-call technical support 24x7x365; participate in the existing on-call rotation is mandatory.

 

     

     

     

     


     

    Qualifications

    Education

    • Minimum Required Education: High school diploma or GED with equivalent IT experience to a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems.
    • Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering
    • Experience: 5+ years’ Information Technology specific experience in managing, administering, and implementing complex Information System technologies

    Technology 

    • Experience with Citrix and Cisco UCS required
    • Experience with VMWare preferred
    • Experience with Active Directory, Azure, Exchange preferred
    • Office 365, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online management experience preferred.
    • Familiarity using 3rd party remote access tools to troubleshoot remote user incidents.
    • Familiarity with VPN and other remote tools.
    • Experience with Pure or Rubric desired

    Certifications

    • Strongly preferred that applicant holds a current professional level certification from a nationally recognized technology Vendor (Microsoft, VMware, Citrix, Cisco, EMC, NetApp, Pure Storage, etc.).
