Job Description

The Linux Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing, installing, maintaining, and supporting Linux Red Hat version 8.3 and Symantec Protection Engine for Cloud Services 8.2 (ICAP servers). The person will provide high-level technical support for a new AV system in support of an existing Axway secure file transfer system using HTTPS and SSH transfers.  The Linux Systems Engineer will create and maintain network documentation and work projects as needed. This position requires excellent problem management and customer service skills.

Position Responsibilities

·       Responsible for documenting, installation, testing, and deployment of both test and production environments of Symantec Production Engine for cloud Services 8.2 (ICAP Servers) as Anitvirus servers for existing Axway HTTPS and SSH file transfer system

·       Perform maintenance as needed on the AV serves including monthly system patches as needed.

·       Support Certification and Accreditation (C&A) of systems and respond and resolve to POA&Ms as needed.

·       Support Axway File Transfer servers as needed for both internal and external customers.

·       Oversee complex infrastructure including installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools.

·       Performs continual maintenance and provides complex solutions for security, backup and redundancy problems.

·       May provide guidance to less-experienced Systems Engineers.

·       Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology.

·       May coach and review the work of less-experienced professionals.

·       Solid knowledge of and experience with Linux Red Hat version 8.0 or higher

·       Experience with Windows 2016 and 2019 servers

·       Understanding of HTTPS and SSH for encrypted file transfers within a secure environment

·       Knowledge of Symantec Protection Engine for Clouds Services 8.2 preferred

·       Experience with C&A and system remediation processes

·       Ability to effectively communicate with clients and end users

·       Must possess excellent client management/resolution, problem solving, debugging/troubleshooting skills, with sound presentation skills

·       Excellent English verbal communications and written documentation skills are required

·       BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 5+ years of experience with 2+ years as a Senior Systems Engineer
