Job Description

TITLE: 

Shipping & Receiving Clerk

 

LOCATION: 

Phoenix, AZ

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process all incoming and outgoing shipments at the data center site.
  • Receive incoming shipments and freight, verifying contents against purchase orders and packing slips.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and proofreading shipping documents.
  • Utilize computerized systems to track shipments and maintain inventory records.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries related to shipping status and delivery.
  • Operate phone systems to communicate with vendors, customers, and internal departments effectively.
  • Collaborate with Ascent and client team members to optimize shipping/receiving workflow within the site.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, forklift, and reach trucks to load and unload goods safely.
  • Reports and assists with escalation duties related to major problems impacting business and reports all atypical situations to management.
  • Ensures all established policies and procedures are maintained and followed.
  • Makes decisions with an understanding of procedures, company policies and business practices to achieve desired results.
  • Ensures work, assignments and projects successfully meets assigned deadlines.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 3+ years’ prior shipping and receiving experience required. Prior experience working within a data center or other secure corporate building preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic shipping systems functions required.
  • Forklift certification required, or ability to obtain certification.
  • Strong verbal and written skills, detail oriented, and prioritization skills required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the public.
  • Ability to effectively respond, verbally or written, to tough issues, general inquiries or complaints.
  • Proficient with MS Office Package
  • Must have strong customer service orientation and ability to build customer relationships by building trust.
  • Solid work ethic and integrity, able to work effectively and be self-directed is required.
  • A good understanding of all applicable rule’s laws, codes, regulations and ordinances in performing shipping and receiving responsibilities.
  • Ability to assess and solve problems involving several options with limited information.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Flexibility, including the willingness and ability to readily respond to changing circumstances and expectations. Openness to new ideas and procedures.
  • Ability to work autonomously/independently, with moderate supervision and oversight.
  • Ability to effectively respond, verbally or written, to sensitive issues, complex inquiries or complaints. Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex project documents. Ability to manage projects effectively.
  • Candidate should be able to work independently and also as part of a team and must have the ability to learn new   technologies.
  • Must be an eager and motivated individual who excels in a team environment.
  • Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods (up to 8+ hours), walk long distances both inside and outside, reach with hands and arms, bend, stoop, reach overhead, climb stairs, ladders, etc. as needed, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform essential duties both inside and outside, in both climate controlled and non-climate controlled conditions.
  • Ability to work in an environment that involves exposure to wet (and humidity), extreme temperatures, noise, vibration, and mechanical, electrical, radiant energy, explosive and burn hazards.
