Job Description

Mō te tūranga | About the role

We’re looking for a practical, reliable, and proactive Property Assistant to join our team at Ashwood Park. You’ll be helping maintain our buildings and equipment to a high standard, supporting the wellbeing of our residents.

This is a hands-on role with plenty of variety. You’ll be working closely with our Property Manager, contractors, and the wider village team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out scheduled routine checks and general maintenance
  • Responding to planned and unplanned maintenance issues
  • Supervising and assisting contractors onsite
  • Keeping maintenance logs and records up to date
  • Interacting respectfully with residents and supporting their needs
  • Following health and safety procedures and reporting hazards

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Full NZ driver’s licence
  • Solid DIY or trade skills, ideally with building or facility maintenance experience
  • Good communication, time management and problem solving ability
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Respect and empathy for older people
  • Integrity and reliability
  • Ability to work unsupervised and take ownership of jobs from start to finish

We are looking for a team member who enjoys:

  • Interacting with older New Zealanders
  • Performing to a high standard with diligence and care
  • Working within a team where we respect our residents and each other

This is a part-time role working 20 hours a week across Monday - Friday.
