Skill Set: Consultant would have a Bachelor's degree in MIS/Computer Science/Math or equivalent experience

2+ years previous experience in the IT industry

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field and/or a minimum of 4 years of equivalent work experience.

• A minimum of 8 years of network and/or telecommunications engineering experience.

• Advanced knowledge (broad expertise or unique knowledge) of policies, practices and systems.

• Develops advanced concepts, techniques, and standards.

• Strong systems level understanding for technologies across Information Technology (IT).

• Develops new applications based on professional principles and theories.

• Applies advanced principles, theories, and concepts.

• Contributes to the development of innovative principles and ideas.

Areas of Proficiency:

Switching

• Should possess a proficient understanding of most/all Layer 2 concepts and design

• Proficient understanding of advanced interoperations between Layer 2 and Layer 3

• In depth understanding of intermediate switching hardware

• Understand current industry standards and deployments of Layer 2 environments

Routing

• Should have intermediate understanding of most Layer 3 routing protocols

• Proficient understanding of advanced routing for OSPF and BGP

• Proficient understanding of advanced multiple routing protocol interaction

• Advanced design concepts

• Advanced traffic manipulation knowledge

• Intermediate multicast knowledge

• Cisco IOS XR experience/exposure is a plus

Services

• Should possess a proficient understanding of most/all Plan of Record configurations.
