Job Description
Who you'll work with
We are seeking an Optical Transceiver Reliability and Qualification Engineer to lead the reliability testing and qualification of our internally developed optical transceivers. As we prepare for upcoming prototype builds, you will partner closely with external vendors and internal engineering teams. You will drive reliability assessments, manage qualification execution, and lead failure analysis to ensure our products meet strict performance and quality standards.
What you'll do
Manage Qualification Plans: Develop and execute comprehensive reliability and qualification plans for optical transceivers from prototype to mass production.
Collaborate with Vendors: Partner with manufacturing vendors to oversee testing execution, review data, and ensure adherence to quality requirements at our HQ location.
Lead Failure Analysis: Investigate device failures during stress testing, identify root causes, and work with cross-functional teams on corrective actions.
Define Reliability Standards: Establish reliability test methods, environmental stress screening protocols, and life-testing criteria based on industry standards (e.g., Telcordia, IEEE).
Analyze Data: Review test data, generate qualification reports, and present findings to leadership and development teams.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Degree: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience in reliability engineering, quality, or test engineering for optical components or transceivers.
Technical Skills
Transceiver Knowledge: Deep understanding of optical transceiver architectures, active/passive optical components, and photonic integrated circuits. Understanding of semiconductor laser and their reliability, FIT calculation, module qual standard like GR-468_Core
Reliability Standards: Familiarity with industry reliability standards such as Telcordia GR-468, GR-1221, and IEEE 802.3.
Testing & FA: Experience with environmental stress testing (temperature cycling, damp heat, biased life testing) and failure analysis tools (SEM, EDX, CSAM, optical microscopy).
Vendor Management: Proven ability to manage technical relationships and drive execution with external contract manufacturers or component suppliers. Ability to travel to the Asia CM factory.
Customer Support: Work with customer on the reliability requirement and debug.
Compensation Information
The new hire base pay for this role has a salary range of $150,000 to $230,000. Arista offers different pay ranges based on work location, so that we can offer consistent and competitive pay appropriate to the market. The actual base pay offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and work location. The pay range provided reflects base pay only and in addition certain roles may also be eligible for discretionary Arista bonuses and equity. Employees in Sales roles are eligible to participate in Arista’s Sales Incentive Plan, which pays commissions calculated as a percentage of eligible sales. US-based employees are also entitled to benefits including medical, dental, vision, wellbeing, tax savings and income protection.
