Job Description

Who You'll Work With

You will work closely with Hardware Design Engineers, Signal Integrity Engineers, and the lab management team to execute high-precision modifications on cutting-edge networking hardware. This role is central to the hardware prototyping process, enabling engineers to validate designs through expert-level PCB rework and assembly.

What You'll Do

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented HW Lab Rework Technician to join our hardware development team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing complex rework on high-density, multi-layer PCBs (20+ layers) using advanced soldering and desoldering techniques. You will interpret engineering instructions to modify prototype hardware, ensuring the highest standards of quality and reliability.

This role requires strong hands-on skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work on high-layer-count PCBs and high-speed components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform rework on complex, multi-layer PCBs (20+ layers), including SMT components and high-speed connectors
  • Execute precise soldering and desoldering using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Modify, repair, and assemble hardware systems based on engineering instructions and schematics
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to understand rework requirements and provide feedback
  • Inspect and verify reworked boards to ensure quality and functionality
  • Maintain proper documentation of rework activities and updates
  • Handle and organize lab equipment, tools, and components efficiently
  • Support system-level assembly and bring-up when needed
  • Follow ESD and lab safety procedures at all times

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in PCB rework and hardware lab environments
  • Strong experience working with SMT components and fine-pitch/high-speed connectors
  • Proficiency in soldering and desoldering techniques for complex boards
  • Experience working with multi-layer PCBs (20+ layers preferred)
  • Familiarity with Windows-based systems, Microsoft Office, and email communication tools (e.g., Google Workspace)
  • Ability to read and follow technical instructions, schematics, and rework guidelines
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams
  • Ability to lift and handle equipment up to 50 lbs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with system-level assembly and hardware bring-up
  • Familiarity with PCB design tools such as Cadence Allegro
  • Prior experience in networking or high-speed hardware environments

Compensation Information:

The new hire base pay for this role has a pay range of $70,000 to $110,000. Arista offers different pay ranges based on work location, so that we can offer consistent and competitive pay appropriate to the market. The actual base pay offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and work location. The pay range provided reflects base pay only and in addition certain roles may also be eligible for discretionary Arista bonuses and equity. Employees in Sales roles are eligible to participate in Arista’s Sales Incentive Plan, which pays commissions calculated as a percentage of eligible sales. US-based employees are also entitled to benefits including medical, dental, vision, wellbeing, tax savings and income protection.
