We are constantly growing and are currently looking for a seasoned and mature Operations Manager for our Marine & Infrastructure Division, with experience in delivering multi-discipline civil Infrastructure projects of large scope ($100M +).

Role summary:

Reporting directly to the Marine & Infrastructure Division Director, you will be responsible for delivering a portfolio of Infrastructure projects across MENA, Central Asia and Africa regions.

You will be, preferably, based in Athens but spend time at projects, as required, to support and control the Projects’ operation through their complete life cycle. You will ensure that the Projects deliver the agreed objectives and act as representative of the company to the Projects, while the overall accountability remains to the Project Managers.

What you will need to do:

  • Apply contemporary practices in portfolio management to deliver his or her portfolio of projects in compliance with client expectations and contractual obligations.
  • Lead commercial excellence with P&L responsibility, including contract, finance and risk management.
  • Start-up the project with the support from the central functions. Negotiate with other departments’ heads for key personnel and develop effective teams to achieve superior output on site.
  • Establish Division of Responsibilities (DOR) with the Project Manager to define the limits of authority. Act as an escalation point for decisions and issues that are beyond the authority of the Project Manager.
  • Provide business context, expertise and guidance to the Project Manager and the team.
  • Act as an additional line of communication with Client. Administer customer experience to deepen relationships and build sales, by ensuring excellent service standards and maintaining high customer satisfaction.
  • Track projects’ progress by chairing the monthly operations meetings and provide updates to internal stakeholders on project/contract progress. Initiate appropriate action, including temporary relocation to site, if project conditions and circumstances significantly change throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  • Instil a high-performance safety culture throughout the business.
  • Support the preparation of tenders and the negotiations of contracts as required.
  • Performance appraisal and development of key project staff including Project Managers, as well as recruitment of new hires.
  • Ensure that the project teams adhere to the IMS policies and procedures.

What you will need to have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • At least 15 years of Project Management experience, with exposure in multiple large infrastructure projects with a Tier 1 contractor.
  • At least three successfully delivered EPC (D&C) projects as a Project Manager in the MENA region.
  • Versatility in Infrastructure projects, such as bridges, tunnels, major rail works etc.
  • Proven experience to develop and administer project execution plans, including the development of realistic and detailed construction programs.
  • Ability to collect, track, and analyse large amounts of data.
  • Proficiency in applications including Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent command of the English language; good knowledge of French language is highly welcomed.

  • Demonstrates commitment to QHSE standards and knowledge of construction (infrastructure) QHSE requirements.
