Job Description

We are constantly growing and are currently looking for a full of potential and reliable Rail Project Manager, to join our top qualified and knowledgeable Project Management team in one of our winning projects in one of the countries of our operations (think MENA and Central Asia  to start with), following a productive period, during which you will closely collaborate with our Marine & Infrastructure Division team in our Cairo Office and drive the tendering process of rail-related projects.

Role summary:

Reporting to the Division’s Operations Manager, you will assume a prominent role in driving the project-related tendering activities and delivering international rail projects. You will be directly accountable for budgetary management, people management, maintaining an effective agile work environment and ultimately ensuring the project meets cost, time and performance expectation. What you will need to do:

  • Apply contemporary practices in project management to deliver projects from inception through to completion, in compliance with client expectations and contractual obligations
  • Lead tenders; responsible for the execution plan and the risks identification and control
  • Ensure compliance with Quality, Health, Safety and Environment corporate policies and procedures and local law and regulations
  • Ensure effective contract, commercial and risk management, accurate forecasting of costs and revenue and taking corrective action as required to achieve timely project delivery within budget estimate
  • Ensure establishment and implementation of effective risk management plan
  • Being responsible for effective client relationship management to ensure that customer expectations are met
  • Manage risks and resolve critical project issues, that may have business and/or strategic impact, in coordination with the Operations Manager
  • Ensure project plans are in place to ensure sufficient resources and materials are in place; interacting with the wider organization to channel resources when required
  • Authorize construction planning, programming and completion schedules
  • Authorize engagement of subcontractors, management of subcontractor work and all major subcontractor variations
  • Lead engineering, procurement and construction teams to achieve project objectives

What you will need to have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (e.g., Civil, Electrical, Mechanical) or Construction Management
  • At least ten (10) years’ project management experience on any type of construction project with a Tier 1 contractor; at least two (2) successfully delivered D&C (EPC) rail projects, out of which one (1) as Project Manager
  • At least one (1) successfully delivered remote project, preferably a cross-country
  • Versed in doubling, diversion, upgrade and new rail projects that includes the management of rail-related disciplines including OLE, Signals, Track and Civils
  • Experience in working with rail and transport stakeholders; ideally, this will have included direct secondments to operating companies or service providers
  • Financial literacy and business acumen with demonstrated capability in contract management and the preparation of project budgets
  • Demonstrable track record of on time delivery within budget combined with sub-contractor management, with a focus on contractual requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and administer project execution plans, including the development of realistic and detailed construction programmes
  • Demonstrated commitment to QHSE and knowledge of marine construction QHSE requirements.
  • Proficient in applications including Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft Project
  • Full professional proficiency in English and Arabic; French knowledge will be gladly welcomed
  • High mobility and willingness to relocate in one of our international project locations and travel around in our countries of operations according to requirements
