Job Description

We are constantly growing and are currently looking for a Junior Structural Design Engineer to join our Engineering Department in Athens Office.

Role summary:

You will undertake and perform accurately and confidently Structural Engineering tasks as part of a multidiscipline Project Engineering team.

What you will need to do:

  • Perform Structural Engineering calculations and prepare design deliverables including reports, drawings, specifications
  • Perform finite element numerical structural analyses and structural designs calculations as required during tender preparation or during Design & Build (EPC) contracts
  • Prepare CAD drawing deliverables, either on your own or using the department's CAD operators
  • Attend designated meetings both in house and when nominated, with other stakeholders
  • Collaborate with and review the work of external consultants as required, at tender and project implementation phases
  • Assist in the selection of optimum design solutions through analysis of information, advanced calculations, and evaluation of results
  • Assist in the assessment of potential risks of specific engineering designs and in the development of alternative design solutions that better meet project requirements
  • Ensure compliance with applicable design engineering international codes and standards, guidelines and recommendations, project, statutory, and safety requirements
  • Assist the Engineering Managers in design management and coordination of projects/tenders
  • Provide technical support to the project teams, with local presence when required

Qualifications

What you will need to have:

  • University degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering (Structural specialization), and an MSc or PhD (preferably in an international English-speaking University in Europe or USA) or equivalent, in relevant field of expertise
  • Technical competence in Structural Engineering and proven 2 – 5 year working experience in infrastructure projects
  • Experience in Finite Element and structural design software packages (Sofistik, Autodesk Robot etc), as well as AutoCAD, Mathcad and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent command (written and oral) of the English language
  • Basic command of the French language (Diplôme d'études en langue française - Delf A1)

What it is nice to have:

  • Excellent command (written and oral) of the French language, although not mandatory, would be a definite plus
  • Work experience in an international environment will constitute an important advantage
