Job Description

Schedule: Night Shift

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Analyst to join our Payroll Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the payroll operations for the US and Canada, contributing to the efficient management of our organization's payroll processes. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can make independent decisions, demonstrate expertise in payroll management, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Your role will be critical in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our payroll operations while maintaining compliance with applicable labor laws. 

  • Manage all aspects of semimonthly payroll processing for the US and Canada, including the review and reconciliation of various payroll activities, such as new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and bonus payouts.
  • Oversee time and absence processing and perform related analysis to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable labor laws.
  • Analyze variances in payroll data, reconciling general ledger journal entries during each pay period.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries related to payroll and timekeeping, providing accurate and timely responses.
  • Ensure the accurate maintenance of employee federal, state, and local tax information, direct deposit details, and other payroll-related deductions.
  • Conduct regular reconciliations of payroll tax liabilities, including contributions to retirement plans and benefit programs.
  • Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 distribution and reconciliations.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and system upgrades, actively participating in their implementation.
  • Assist with various special projects as needed to enhance payroll efficiency and compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of payroll experience in a large and diverse multi-state, multi-entity payroll operation, with a strong understanding of HR and payroll-related processes.
  • Bachelor's degree and/or a payroll certification is a plus.
  • Recent experience with Workday payroll system.
  • Solid understanding of Workday time and absence modules.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll-related laws and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of multi-state practices and laws pertaining to payroll tax, wage and hour laws. International Expat knowledge is a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Office products with advanced emphasis on MS Excel (e.g., pivot table, v-lookups, functions, etc.).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills necessary for effective interaction with internal/external customers and vendors.
