Job Description
IDIADA offers you the opportunity to develop a career in one of the worldwide leading automotive engineering companies. We are looking for new talents to join IDIADA’s powertrain virtual development team located in our HQ office in Spain.
The candidate will contribute to different powertrain R&D projects in the areas of 0D/1D system-level simulation, related to engine performance and acoustics simulation, electric powertrain modelling, and full vehicle energy consumption analysis. The candidate is expected to support component sizing, system optimization and virtual integration tasks for a wide range of powertrain technologies and vehicle configurations (hybrid, pure electric and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles). In parallel to simulation, vehicle test data analysis, visualization and scripting/automation of tasks are also part of the scope of work.
Main tasks will focus on:
- Development of 1D models for powertrain virtual development using GT-suite software. Simulation activities are focused mainly on detailed 1D models for engine performance simulation, but can also extend to electric or fuel-cell system components.
- Support the continuous development of IDIADA's in-house 0D/1D models and libraries (developed in MATLAB/Simulink) for energy consumption and vehicle performance simulations, with focus on hybrid, full electric and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles.
- Model integration in MiL (model-in-the-loop) environment. Implement model upgrades, ensure model enrichment and seek model accuracy improvements.
- Control development and software logic implementation in MATLAB/Simulink.
- Data analysis of vehicle test results for model correlation.
- Development of scripts and tools in MATLAB/Simulink and Python (automation of data pre/post processing, simulation, and reporting tasks).
- To prepare technical reports or visual presentations to summarize results, contribute to project review meetings in collaboration with other members of the Powertrain Simulation team.
Qualifications

We are looking for a profile with strong technical, analytical, and fast-learning capabilities; with the ability to defend technical points in meetings with clients, forecast the impact of decisions and the ability to work in a methodological way. - 1 to 3 years of experience in the automotive industry, preferably in the areas of powertrain simulation or vehicle energy consumption simulation.
- Advanced level in MATLAB/Simulink.
- Experience with commercial 1D simulation software is highly valuable (i.e. GT-suite, Simcenter Amesim).
- Knowledge of Python for data analysis, machine learning and optimization is desirable.
- Deep understanding of powertrain systems and its control strategies, including conventional ICE as well as electrified vehicle applications.
- Open, highly motivated personality with hands-on mentality, able to work autonomously as well as being part of a team in a hybrid style (office and remote).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with intellectual curiosity and the drive to investigate technical facts in-depth.
Education
- Master of Science or equivalent degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Automotive, Aeronautical Engineering.
Languages
- Fluent in Spanish and English.
