Business Architect (part-time contract)
- Full-time
Job Description
About You
You are a Business Architect who bridges finance and engineering, translating a complex subscription billing model into data requirements that the integration team can act on. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity across business and technical domains. You'll guide stakeholders through the transformation from a legacy accounting system to Zuora, interpreting Zuora's data model and billing logic well enough to unblock the technical team, while also maintaining stakeholder communication and technical continuity during a planned handover period. This role does not carry project management, Zuora platform administration, or change management authority, as those responsibilities remain within the team.
Note: This position is offered under a part-time contractor model.
You Bring to Applaudo the Following Competencies:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is desired, or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience in business analysis, including requirements gathering, process mapping, and gap analysis.
- Strong subscription and billing domain knowledge, covering recurring revenue, invoicing, and the payment lifecycle.
- Data literacy, with the ability to read pipeline logic, validate data flows, and QA outputs.
- Stakeholder facilitation skills, running workshops, producing decision docs, and framing trade-offs for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Prior ERP or accounting system migration or transformation experience.
- Ability to ramp up independently, learning a new billing platform's data model and business context with minimal oversight.
- Advanced Conversational English. Executive facing communication skills, with fluency sufficient to work directly with a US based controller and finance team.
Nice to haves:
- Zuora platform familiarity across billing, revenue, and CPQ modules.
- GCP ecosystem awareness, including BigQuery, Looker, and Data Studio.
- Familiarity with change management frameworks such as ADKAR or Kotter.
- A Zuora Certified Administrator or Revenue Analyst certification.
You Will Be Accountable for the Following Responsibilities:
- Translate the billing model in Zuora into data requirements the integration team can act on.
- Lead business analysis for the portion of scope that Zuora's professional services doesn't cover, including custom billing rules, revenue recognition, and reporting.
- Guide finance and business stakeholders through the transformation from a legacy accounting system to Zuora, providing clear transformation guidance at each step.
- Interpret Zuora's data model and billing logic to unblock the integration team, acting as a partial platform advisor rather than a full platform administrator.
- Facilitate decisions and trade-off conversations directly with the controller and finance stakeholders.
- Maintain stakeholder communication and technical context continuity during a planned handover or coverage period.
Qualifications
- Proven business analysis experience across finance and technical domains, including requirements gathering, process mapping, and gap analysis.
- Strong subscription and billing domain expertise, covering recurring revenue, invoicing, and payment lifecycle.
- Data literacy, comfortable reading pipeline logic and validating data flows and outputs.
- Prior ERP or accounting system migration or transformation experience.
- Advanced English fluency for direct, executive level collaboration with a US based finance team.
