About you
You are an experienced Data Engineer who enjoys building reliable integrations and transforming complex data into accurate, accessible, and actionable information. You have hands-on experience developing production ETL pipelines with TypeScript/Node.js and Python, integrating REST APIs, and working with cloud-based data platforms. You are comfortable joining an established codebase, following existing technical patterns and CI/CD workflows, and becoming productive with minimal guidance.
You communicate clearly in distributed environments, work effectively with limited overlap, and take ownership of monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining the reliability of your pipelines.
You Bring to Applaudo the Following Competencies
- 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering, integration development, or related roles.
- Production experience building ETL or data-integration pipelines using TypeScript and Node.js.
- Strong Python experience focused on data-pipeline development.
- Hands-on experience with GCP services, including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub.
- Experience integrating REST APIs using OAuth 2.0, pagination, error handling, and retry mechanisms.
- Advanced SQL skills and experience working with complex data warehouse schemas.
- Experience developing data-transformation logic and data-quality validations.
- Understanding of pipeline monitoring, alerting, failure recovery, and operational support.
- Experience working within established architectures, coding conventions, and CI/CD workflows.
- Ability to onboard independently and become productive within an existing codebase.
- Strong written communication skills and an async-first collaboration style.
- Working English proficiency for daily collaboration with an international team.
- Availability to overlap with Pacific Time, primarily between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. PT.
The following experience is considered a plus:
- Experience working with Zuora REST APIs and ZOQL.
- Knowledge of the Zuora billing object model, including subscriptions, invoices, and payments.
- Experience using dbt or similar data-transformation frameworks.
- GCP Professional Data Engineer certification.
You Will Be Accountable For
- Building and maintaining ETL pipelines between Zuora REST APIs and a GCP data warehouse.
- Developing and maintaining integration components using TypeScript/Node.js and Python.
- Managing transformation logic for billing events, subscription lifecycles, invoices, payments, and revenue data.
- Working within the existing architecture, development patterns, conventions, and CI/CD workflows.
- Developing data pipelines using GCP services such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub.
- Implementing pipeline monitoring, alerting, error handling, retry logic, and data-quality controls.
- Writing complex SQL validation queries to verify data parity between source data and warehouse tables.
- Collaborating with the Business Architect to implement data-validation requirements.
- Investigating pipeline failures, data discrepancies, and integration issues.
- Supporting accurate and reliable data movement across source systems and warehouse environments.
- Providing clear written updates and collaborating effectively within a distributed, async-first team.
- Participating in the established Agile/Kanban workflow.
