About You
You are a Legal Counsel specializing in Public Sector & Compliance who thrives in fast-paced environments, ensuring legal compliance and risk mitigation to support corporate expansion across LATAM.
You enjoy analyzing complex multi-jurisdictional regulations, guiding public bidding processes, and collaborating cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, and People Experience teams to protect business operations and enable strategic growth. You are analytical, detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about ensuring regulatory compliance while supporting business objectives.
You Bring to Applaudo the Following Competencies:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B. or equivalent) is desired, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of experience in public procurement law, regulatory compliance, or public sector legal advisory.
- Strong expertise in Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Labor Law, public bidding processes, and contract drafting.
- Deep understanding of multi-jurisdictional regulations and statutory compliance across LATAM.
- Proven experience managing bid reviews, legal trackers, and compliance matrices.
- High proficiency with digital tools and platforms (e.g., Lexius, SignNow, Trello, Applaudo Chat, CoPilot).
- Exceptional detail orientation and a proactive approach to risk management and mitigation.
- Ability to work independently, manage tight deadlines for public tenders, and perform effectively under pressure.
- Advanced/Fluent English and Spanish proficiency (C1+ / Fluent in both).
You Will Be Accountable for the Following Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive legal support for public sector engagements and bidding processes, supporting deal closure and driving revenue growth.
- Ensure full compliance with multi-jurisdictional regulations and statutory obligations to mitigate legal risks and avoid penalties.
- Review and analyze Terms of Reference (ToR), subcontractor data, and public tender requirements to issue sound legal opinions and finalize contracts.
- Collaborate closely with Public Sector Sales, Finance, PX, and Talent Acquisition teams to provide regulatory clarity and cross-functional legal guidance.
- Lead weekly bid legal reviews and participate in go/no-go decision-making processes for public sector opportunities.
- Conduct monthly compliance audits and maintain the corporate Compliance Matrix to generate actionable risk reports.
- Implement automated alert systems and legal tracking workflows to ensure no public tender or compliance deadline is missed.
- Support key operational metrics and growth KPIs, including bid participation tracking, deal win rates, and compliance fulfillment rates.
- Report key legal findings and risk evaluations directly to the Head of Legal Affairs.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in public procurement law, corporate legal advisory, or regulatory compliance.
- Strong knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Labor Law, public sector bidding, and contract negotiation.
- Experience working with legal technology, document management, and collaboration tools.
- Strong analytical, document drafting, and risk assessment skills.
- Advanced/Fluent proficiency in both English and Spanish.
