The Huffington Post UK is looking for a new Political Reporter.
We want an energetic individual to write stories to boost our Westminster coverage, as part of our mission to take political journalism beyond the usual left/right coverage and focus on issues that really matter to our readers.
You'll be able to articulate the bigger picture, yet capable of tackling the detail of both politics and policy - and how they interact. You will have a record of bringing stories to life with flair, intelligence and imagination.
Crucially, you will have extensive reporting experience in breaking stories that really make a difference. A digital background is desirable, but not essential.
You will understand how the social web is redefining news in a digital age, while not losing sight of the enduring value of telling stories with the highest standards of rigour and insight.
You will understand how to make stories go viral, write brilliant headlines and use all types of content to tell the most important stories in the most compelling way.
The Huffington Post has a genuinely global reach far beyond most traditional news organisations, all the time breaking new ground from winning the first online Pulitzer Prizes to leading the way with 'What's Working' solutions-based journalism.
Ever since it launched, HuffPost US has been as a major player in the political scene and politics is part of the lifeblood of HuffPost UK too. Paul Waugh, our Executive Editor for Politics, and his team ensure that we are read from Downing Street to Labour HQ, from Whitehall to the Commons tea room, not least through our daily WaughZone email and blog.
We pride ourselves on playing away from the pack and getting behind the headlines, as well as making them. From the Duchess of Cambridge guest-editing our special issue on children's mental health, to our coverage of what's really going on in Westminster and beyond, HuffPost UK is unafraid of doing things differently.
