Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated and creative scientist with expertise in the cell and gene therapy space to help us discover and develop exosome-based therapeutics across RNA modalities including RNAi, mRNA, and gene editing. This position will be instrumental in developing and utilizing biologically relevant assays and model systems to advance our oncology and rare disease programs. The ideal candidate will show leadership and support our in vitro and in vivo efforts to develop a new generation of nucleic acid-based therapeutics. The successful candidate has a desire to continue to work ‘hands-on’ in the laboratory and will grow into a lead scientist role responsible for developing, implementing and executing translational research strategy to support our preclinical programs.

This position will include the following tasks and responsibilities

  • Advance the development of RNA-based therapeutics to target genes and proteins involved in the pathophysiology involved in oncology and rare diseases;
  • Design and execute cell-based and in vivo experiments for target cell-selectivity of exosome-based carriers and functionality for target validation efforts;
  • Maintain knowledge of published developments in research field and generate new research project and program ideas;
  • Adhere to project timelines and deliverables and closely collaborate with research teams and external stakeholders to ensure the timely progress of our portfolio of programs;
  • Contribute to publications as well as to patents in the areas of exosomes and cell biology and present results at scientific meetings;
  • Rigorous documentation of research methods and results in electronic laboratory notebook and technical written reports;

Qualifications

Education and experience

  • Ph.D. degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences or related field, 3+ years of experience in an industrial setting;

Your profile should ideally include the following:

  •  In depth know how regarding RNA modalities (mRNA, RNAi and/or gene editing) and nanoparticle mediated delivery thereof;
  •  Demonstrate broad knowledge in areas including cell biology, signal transduction, metabolic pathways, gene expression regulation and human genetics is strongly desired;
  •  Extensive hands-on experience with common molecular biology methods, including DNA/RNA extraction, plasmid design, qPCR, agarose gel electrophoresis, ELISA, western blotting;
  • Open minded with excellent problem-solving skills, as well as the confidence to work within a fast-paced research field;
  • Strong written and verbal communicator in English;
