Summary

This role will build and lead a team that can build the movement’s political power by starting, training and developing a network of local groups.

We aim to build a network of local groups with a broad-base of everyday people. We will need to identify local leaders, train them and support them to launch local groups. They will need to understand our DNA, our campaigns, strategy, messaging and culture. They will need to understand the principles of good group organising, and how to coordinate campaigning with other groups nationally.

To get to this stage we need to launch our first local groups with a set of effective organising techniques. This role will play and be a hands-on part in this process including training others in what effective organising looks like. This role will be finding, implementing and testing techniques in order to help us find the organising model that will best serve us and our local groups. This work is closely tied to our understanding of good Culture and Governance especially, as well as Story-based Strategy. You will be working closely with these other roles, i.e.: Social Movement (SM) Culture, SM Governance, and Story-based Strategy.

In the long term, this role will help to evaluate and then ensure that effective organising is taking place at our local groups.

We are using Momentum-driven Organising (This is an Uprising) and are hoping to blend "flash-in-the-pan" mass action with deeper, more sustainable organising methods. This role will play a particular part in this ‘Structure-based Organising’ approach.
