Job Description
The HR Manager is responsible for delivering end-to-end generalist HR support for the Diamond Trading business in the UK, providing day-to-day HR partnership and operational support to leaders, managers and employees across the London and Maidenhead sites.
Reporting to the SVP People, Diamond Trading, based in Botswana, the role acts as the primary HR contact for the UK business, ensuring the effective delivery of people processes, employee relations support, recruitment, talent activities, payroll administration, compliance and employee experience initiatives.
Working closely with business leaders, the role supports the implementation of people strategies and policies while ensuring local business requirements and UK employment legislation are effectively managed. The role requires a visible presence across both office locations and the ability to build strong relationships with employees and leaders at all levels.
Key Accountabilities
HR Advisory & Business Partnering
- Act as the primary HR contact for managers and employees across the Diamond Trading business in the UK.
- Provide practical HR advice and guidance across the employee lifecycle.
- Support managers in managing performance, conduct, absence, capability and employee engagement matters.
- Build effective relationships with leaders to understand business priorities and people challenges.
- Ensure the consistent application of HR policies, procedures and people practices.
- Support organisation changes, team restructures and business initiatives as required.
Employee Relations
- Manage employee relations cases from initial advice through to resolution.
- Support and advise managers on disciplinary, grievance, performance, conduct, capability and absence management matters.
- Ensure employee relations matters are managed fairly, consistently and in line with Company policy and UK employment legislation.
- Support investigations, hearings and consultation activities where required.
- Identify and escalate complex or high-risk employee relations matters appropriately.
Recruitment & Workforce Planning
- Lead and coordinate end-to-end recruitment activities for the Diamond Trading business.
- Partner with hiring managers to define requirements, manage recruitment processes and secure high-quality candidates.
- Coordinate advertising, candidate sourcing, interviews, offer management, onboarding and induction activities.
- Maintain relationships with recruitment agencies and other external suppliers where required.
- Support workforce planning discussions and provide recruitment insights and data to leaders.
Talent, Performance & Development
- Coordinate annual performance, talent and reward processes within the business.
- Support leaders in identifying talent, development opportunities and succession requirements.
- Assist managers and employees in accessing appropriate learning and development opportunities.
- Coordinate onboarding and induction activities to support employee integration and effectiveness.
HR Operations, Payroll & Benefits
- Support the delivery of efficient and accurate HR operations across the business.
- Ensure employee records, HR system data and contractual documentation are maintained accurately.
- Coordinate payroll inputs and changes, ensuring accuracy and timely submission to payroll providers.
- Support employees and managers with payroll and benefits queries.
- Liaise with external providers to resolve payroll and benefits issues where required.
- Monitor HR processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with UK employment legislation and Company policies.
- Maintain accurate HR documentation, records and employee data.
- Support internal and external audit requirements as required.
- Monitor people-related risks and ensure appropriate controls are maintained.
- Contribute to HR reporting, workforce data analysis and management information requirements.
Employee Experience & Engagement
- Support the local delivery of employee engagement, wellbeing and communication initiatives.
- Promote a positive and inclusive working environment across both UK locations.
- Build strong relationships with employees and act as a trusted point of contact for HR support.
- Help ensure employees receive a consistent and high-quality people experience throughout their employment lifecycle.
Qualifications
Your skills and knowledge
- Strong HR generalist experience within a corporate or commercial environment.
- Sound knowledge of UK employment legislation and employee relations practices.
- Experience managing recruitment and onboarding activities.
- Experience supporting performance management, talent and organisational change activities.
- Good understanding of payroll administration, employee benefits and HR systems.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities across geographically separate locations.
- CIPD qualified or working towards qualification preferred.
