We have an exciting opportunity for Security Operations Supervisor. The purpose of this role is to Supervise the activities of the Protection Officers and contracted security services provider(s) to ensure that the property and employees are protected against loss, damages and criminal activity.

In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.
Job Description
- Support the Safety & Health principles, following operational risk management rules, regulations, procedures, and directions.
- Take personal responsibility for self and others' safety to prevent harm and fatalities.
- Support a safe and healthy workplace culture.
- Escalate specific risks in the workplace using.
- Maintain good housekeeping and escalate.
- Active participation in SLAMs, HPHs, relevant Risk Assessments and close-out of Safet Actions.
- Performance and Delivery
- Monitor and report on operational security matters and assist in implementing measures to rectify or manage security matters.
- Conduct training for the in-house and contracted protection services personnel.
- Plan the daily assignment of patrolling areas for the protection officers.
- Supervise outsourced cash in transit and alarm response service providers.
- Co-ordinate and lead crime prevention and traffic enforcement operations.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify security risks and devise and monitor implementation of risk mitigation measures.
- Assist in developing safety plans for the buildings they monitor.
- Conduct periodic safety drills for employees and patrons in the business.
- Ensure an effective access control system exists for visitors, contracts, and external employee access.
- Ensure regular maintenance of prohibited substance testing instruments.
- Manage the section administration on health and safety, budget, staff shift roster, leave planning, and the issuing of PPE, uniforms, and firearms.
- Assess the safety leadership capabilities of direct reports.
- Participate in and coordinate specialised high-risk functions such as crowd/riot control, crime investigation and follow-ups, VIP escorting and assisting the SAPS.

This role is in the Safety, Health, Environment, Protection Services & Security (SHEPS) department on a band 7.8 (C4) reporting to the Section Manager Security.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Grade A PSIRA Registered
- Relevant National Diploma in Security Management or equivalent (NQF5)
- SA Driver’s License
- Firearm Business Competency and SAPS Clearance
- Voluntary Principles for Human Rights and security Training
Technical Knowledge
- Familiarity with safety standards in the mining industry.
- Acquired experience in security management processes specific to the mining industry.
- Gained experience in investigation and report writing.
- Understand company policies and procedures.
