Job Description
As our Operator Gr1 Auxiliary Mining of your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Follow SHE standards and specific legislation related to vehicle control.
- Adhere, read, and sign all appropriate work instructions and standards.
- Attend Safety meetings with the supervisor and team and ensure adherence to all safety protocols.
- Effectively identify hazards and safety deviations in the area of responsibility.
- Apply SLAM/HIRA/Mini HIRA correctly and report any safety or health-related issues.
- Take all necessary safety precautions when working on auxiliary equipment.
- Active participation in SLAMs, HPHs, relevant Risk Assessments and close-out of Safety Actions.
Auxiliary Equipment
- Equipment Operation: Operate and control various auxiliary mining equipment, such as loaders, dozers, graders, and other support vehicles, safely and efficiently.
- Routine Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance checks on auxiliary equipment, perform minor repairs, and promptly report any issues to maintenance teams for further attention.
- Material Handling: Assist in material handling activities, including loading, transporting, and unloading materials within the mining site, contributing to the overall flow of materials.
- Communication: Maintain effective communication with other operators, supervisors, and relevant personnel to ensure coordinated and efficient mining operations.
- Inspections: Conduct pre-operational inspections on equipment to ensure it is in proper working condition, identifying and reporting any abnormalities or potential issues.
- Operational Support: Support other mining operations, such as assisting with excavation, dumping, or grading activities, as needed.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, fuel consumption, and other relevant operational data for reporting and analysis.
- Environmental Awareness: Operate equipment that considers environmental impact, following guidelines to minimise ecological disturbance and maintain compliance with environmental regulations.
- Training and Compliance: Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge related to the safe and efficient operation of auxiliary mining equipment. Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergencies, following established protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other members of the mining team, including operators, supervisors, and maintenance personnel, to ensure a cohesive and productive work environment.
This role is in Mining (MIN) department on a band P5 (B4/B5) level reporting to the Shift Supervisor.
Qualifications
- Grade 12/N3 Technical
- SA Drivers Licence
- Valid Dover Certificate
- Relevant HME Licences
- Competency A (advantageous)
Technical Knowledge
- 1-2 Years of relevant mining operations experience.
- In-depth knowledge of the Equipment operational systems, e.g. Collision prevention, fire suppression system, etc.
- Current technical understanding, with one to two years of operational experience in mining.
