This role is based in Mokopane, Limpopo.

Job Description

  • Perform tasks in accordance with and adherence to the provisions of the MHSA as well as Mine Standards.
  • Identify record and report unsafe and substandard conditions.
  • Exercise special care to avoid personal injury and injury to other persons as well as damage to property whilst transporting equipment and performing daily tasks.
  • Communicate all related Safety information to team.
  • Support mine safety programmes (e.g. "Zero Tolerance Campaign").
  • Ensuring that team members are directed to the correct locations/ working places
  • Obtain permission to enter working place.
  • Physical installation of survey stations and direction lines.
  • Offsetting of excavations and accurate recording of data.
  • Perform tasks within the accuracy limits as required in terms of the Chapter 17 in terms of MHSA.
  • Represent captured data within the accuracy limits, as specified by Chapter 17 in terms of MHSA.
  • Obtain permission to enter working places.
  • Capturing and processing of field data (including electronic).
  • Contract measuring, organising and calculations.
  • Report anomalies (e.g. off-line development, off reef mining).
  • Capture geological markers and structures.
  • Mapping of Rock Engineering special instructions pillars.
  • Represent excavations on plans.
  • Assist with the issuing of mining instructions.
  • Plotting and representation on plan of fieldwork in accordance with legal and survey code of practice provisions.
  • Familiarization with electronic draughting – MicroStation/ CADS mine and Deswik.
  • Perform specialised survey as and when required Scanning, Check surveys and Engineering surveys.

This role is at a Band C2 level reporting to the Senior Surveyor

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 with minimum 50% in Maths and science
  • Elementary Survey, Basic Sampling certificate
  • Advantageous: National Diploma in Mine Survey or mineral resource management or chamber of mines advance survey

Experience required

  • Minimum 1-year departmental experience
  • Computer literacy for role
