1x Role based in Polokwane

Job Description

The Snr Engineer Structural provides dedicated project management service to the operation and takes responsibility at an operational level for the planning and delivery of the Structural work on Capital.

  1. Safety:
  • Create a safety culture through productive and authorized operational systems/processes that allow all employees (including contracting partners) to provide their outputs in a risk-controlled environment. Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
  1. Performance and Delivery
  • Plan the Project
  • Define the scope of the project in collaboration with Structural Engineer and Project Engineer
  • Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project
  • Determine the resources (time, money, equipment, etc) required to complete the project
  • Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities
  • Review the project schedule with senior management and all stakeholders that will be affected by the project activities; revise the schedule as required
  • Drive towards the desired installation rate cost and effectively managed outcome.
  • Resource the Project
  • In consultation with the appropriate Operational Engineering manager, develop strategy and plan, interview and select project resources with appropriate skills for the project activities.
  • Manage project resources to deliver on agreed deliverables.
  • Contract qualified consultants to work on the project as appropriately.
  • Effectively manage the EPCM to deliver to their contract deliverables.
  • Execute the Project
  • Monitor the progress of the project and adjust as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project
  • Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization on the progress of the project
  • Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards and drive continuous improvement
  • Monitor cash flow projections and report actual cash flow and variance on a regular basis
  • Manage all project funds according to company policy, procedure and governance
  • Ensure that all financial records for the project are up to date

 

  • Evaluate the Project
  • Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality
  • Evaluate the outcomes of the project as established during the planning phase
  • Key focus on defect reduction and cost per ton and reduction thereof

  • Ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory, legislative and permitting requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree Engineering
  • Civil and Structural advantageous
  • Valid EB/Code 08 driver’s license
  • GCC or PrEng or PMP

Experience:

  • 5-7 years working experience in project management in structural

Technical knowledge (experience) required for role:

  • Project management
  • Structural repair work in brown fields environment
  • Knowledge of plant operations and their context
  • NEC3 contractual management
  • Risk management techniques and critical controls
