Dawson Mine
Steelmaking Coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.
Dawson Mine is a large and dynamic open cut steelmaking coal mine operation made up of two operating pits – Central and South. It commenced operations in 1961 and is one of the oldest coal mining operations in Central Queensland. Dawson Mine was the first mine in Australia to export coal to Japan in 1961 and was the first mine to introduce draglines into its operation in 1963.
Job Description
We are currently seeking a Mine Technician to assist our Pump Crew operations at our Dawson Mine, based in Moura, QLD. You will work as part of a team to assist operations with pumping water from mining pits and ensure the mine site is able to operate at an efficient level. To be successful in this role you will ensure compliance with all Anglo American safety and operating systems and a commitment to working together as part of a team to achieve business objectives.
The successful applicants will be able to demonstrate a record of working safely and a commitment to safe working practices. You will be accountable for your actions and output and also display a willingness to learn new skills and to work to the best of your ability. Along with a commitment to working together as part of a team to achieve business objectives and the ability to work shift work on the 7 on, 7 off roster.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you will ensure compliance with all Anglo American safety and operating systems and a commitment to working together as part of a team to achieve business objectives. You will need to possess relevant experience in large open-cut mining operations. Dawson Mine is seeking candidates with experience in the below:
- Demonstrated experience working in a pump crew is desirable
- You will display excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with being a team player in safely achieving targets
- You will be able to demonstrate your knowledge, operations and pump methods to achieve optimization and improve performance
- Trade Certificate in Mechanical/Auto Electrical highly desired but not essential
- Poly Welding certificate highly desired but not essential
