Job Description

Anglin Consulting Group is currently seeking a Director of Interpreting (ASL). The Director of Interpreting is responsible for the oversight of all operations within the Department of Interpreting Services including contracts for external clients, management of all projects, technology, mission and financial goals. They work closely with the ACG Executive Team on expanding Interpreting Services internally and externally, including the supervision of department staff and effective fiscal management. 

Duties will include but are not limited to: 

  • Recruit and hire new interpreters and work with the management team to ensure proper staffing for interpreting volume and support.   
  • Provide supervision and support to Interpreter Coordinator to approve time sheets, service records and other documents necessary
  • Screen, interview and evaluate all department and subcontractors.
  • Support the growth of the interpreting profession by overseeing the mentoring of internal and external interpreters
  • Oversee interpreter practicum and internship placements including supervision of interpreting students and mentees.
  • Oversee the hiring and development of all Interpreting Services employees.
  • Train staff as appropriate to maximize departmental performance and staff development. Observe interpreters at assignments; provide training direction, coaching and feedback to interpreters and other staff.
  • Reviews client/consumer evaluations and follow-up as needed.Negotiates rates, terms, and condition of contracts for interpreting services; present such contracts to the Chief Operating Officer for approval prior to execution

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate:

  • Holds a B.A./B.S. from an accredited institution of higher education
  • ASL and English proficiency required 
  • Minimum of three to five years’ professional experience in a leadership role
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of interpreting in a variety of settings
  • Current certification with either NAD or RID
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and application of RID Code of Professional Conduct and American Deaf Culture
  • Possesses strong organization and time-management skills as well as ability to multi-task
  • Strong technology abilities with a variety of software programs
  • Is a team-player and has a positive attitude
