Job Description

A Batch Mixer at Anchor Glass's Shakopee, MN plant will unload received raw materials, store them in designated bins, weigh out and mix charges for furnace operations. 

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  1.  Unloads raw materials, records car numbers and takes samples
  2. Follows plant standard unloading procedures to assure all incoming material is unloaded into proper bins.
  3. Puts all batch material in proper bin.
  4. Makes out unloading tickets for each car or truck.
  5. Checks automatic batch weighing scales and be able to weigh out batches manually, when necessary.
  6. Maintains accurate measurements of inventory levels with measuring tape.
  7. Assists maintenance man in repair of batch house equipment, and makes minor running repairs.
  8. Keeps all conveyors clean and makes sure all rollers and troughing idlers are free and turning.
  9. Ensure proper operation of all equipment and informs foreman of any equipments that is damaged or does not operate properly.
  10. Checks payloader for oil, water and fuel and makes reports to supervision for maintenance requirements.
  11. Fills cullet bins, using payloader.
  12. Keeps work are and equipment clean and orderly.
  13. Hauls cullet from processor to storage piles as needed.
  14. Performs miscellaneous related duties assigned.
  15. Hazardous Waste Duties: Trained annually - Cleaning, painting, unloading raw materials, observing for storm water runoff contaminants.

Individuals will be trained Monday-Friday 7am-3pm and then assigned to a crew to work rotating shifts.

Rotating shift work involves working 7 consecutive days of an 8am-4pm shift followed by 3 days off, then working 7 consecutive days of a 12mid-8am shift followed by 2 days off and then working 7 consecutive days of a 4pm-12mid shift followed by two days off and then starting back on the 8-4 shift.

This amounts to working 21 days with 7 days off in a 28-day cycle.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Outstanding attendance record at previous employers.
  • Ability to work the scheduled 28 day rotation without calling in (outstanding attendance is very important to the success of our team).
