Job Description

Amtec is currently looking for a Chemical Engineer III to join an innovative, forward thinking consumer products company in Wyoming.

 

Research, develop, design and test less lethal weapons, devices and munitions including aerosol projectors, impact munitions, chemical projectiles and grenades, and distraction devices. Formulation and processing of explosive components, chemical payloads, and pyrotechnic compositions.

 

Essential Job Functions:      

•        Perform independent research and development work with project responsibility to resolve problems with existing products

•        Design and conduct developmental tests on new or existing products; document, analyze and assess project status, product testing and review of results; complete ISO requirements and documentation

•        Prototype development and pilot production of chemical/pyrotechnic formulations for testing and evaluation

•        Develop applications of products, equipment and systems for new commercial, domestic & industrial uses

•        Prepare operating procedures, establishes product standards

•        Ensure that dimensions and specifications are accurate and that all design parameters are consistent with environmental and process factors

•        Review data collected from manufacturing and applications sources and develop product modifications to suit requirements

•        Design manufacturing process to meet cost, quality, safety, and schedule requirements; provide technical support and troubleshooting for both in house and vendor processes                            

Qualifications

•        US Citizen or green card holder

 

Required Education:  

•        Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other technical discipline (Chemistry or Chemical Engineering is a plus.

-Master's Degree in Engineering or other technical discipline is preferred

 

Preferred Experience:

•        Professional Engineer in WY

•        PMI Certification

•        6 Sigma Green Belt

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

         

•        Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

•        Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

•        Familiar with laboratory and prototyping operations

•        Understanding of advanced mathematical concepts and applications

•        Reasoning ability to define and interpret

•        Demonstrate solid engineering judgment and ability to develop a product from concept through detailed design

•        Ability to work independently with consultative direction toward program goals and objectives with minimal formal review by supervisor

•        Ability to perform engineering calculations and analysis

•        Ability to build functional working prototypes using various pieces of equipment

•        Ability to source materials and interact with vendors.

•        Experience with engineering and statistical analysis

•        Experience with engineering software (CAD, thermal/stress analysis, thermochemical)

•        Experience with data collection systems and instrumentation

•        Experience with pyrotechnics, explosives, propellants a plus

•        Experience with aerosol chemicals and delivery systems a plus

•        Self-Initiate tasks and set personal goals; ensure that projects meet specifications, standards and performance requirements within area of expertise
