Job Title: Applications Engineer
Job Location: Farmington Hills, MI
Job Type: Direct Hire/Full time
Amtec is seeking an Applications Engineer to work for a global leader in mobile electronics, located near Detroit, MI. The Application Engineer's focus will be as technical liaison and support between the client and the OEM customer on electrical/software requirements and testing for OEM multimedia/entertainment products for North American OEMs.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Conceptualization of new products
*Coordination of Sales, Production and Customer for APQP activities on new products
*Liaison with customers regarding development issues and information
*Communication with the client regarding OEM customer issues and information
*Assist Quality Control with the acceptability of manufactured product
*Delivery of software to OEM customer
*Support of OEM customer activities including JQTA, joint check, N100 check, etc. as necessary
*HMI Evaluation activities (i.e. – benchmark testing, development of HMI evaluation procedure, new technology research, etc.)
*Product testing/software validation/field testing and creation of lab reports as necessary
*Install audio/navigation components into test vehicles, complete in-vehicle testing
*Identify and record problems relating to the product
*To review and the disposition of nonconforming product, contingent upon unanimity
*Other authorities and responsibilities as identified in applicable quality system policies
*Other duties as assigned
PERIODIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Support advanced engineering/planning/benchmarking activities as necessary for new business opportunities, RFQ process
*Other periodic duties as assigned by senior/executive management
Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
*A Bachelor degree in a technical field and a minimum of five years’ experience in OEM engineering of electronic based products, preferably audio components.
SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
*Basic understanding of business policies and manufacturing organizations
*Independent correspondence/writing skills
*Ability to work in a team environment
*Good communication skills
*Knowledge of 12V car electrical systems and ability to install audio components
*Ability to proficiently operate MS Excel to create engineering documents/lab reports
