About the role

At Ampol, our Trading & Shipping Graduate Program gives you the opportunity to launch your career in a fast-paced, collaborative environment at the heart of the energy transition. Over three years, you’ll complete meaningful rotations that build technical expertise, commercial insight, and leadership skills - equipping you to make a real impact across our global trading business.

Key Responsibilities

The three-year program consists of up to six rotations across key business areas within Commercial Risk and Trading & Shipping.

Business areas you may be exposed to include:

• Commercial Analytics: Maintain and develop analytical models, track supply and demand fundamentals and analyse vessel movements to generate market insights and identify potential trading opportunities.
• Trading: A selective rotation for graduates with a clear ambition to pursue a career as a Trader. Selection will consider strong academic results, exceptional performance and commitment throughout the program, and demonstrated commercial and trading potential. Working alongside an experienced trading desk, you will build market and product knowledge, analyse commercial opportunities and support trade execution, position management and risk decisions.
• Operations: Support the physical trading desks to execute contracts and manage the operational activities associated with cargoes from loading through to discharge.
• Middle Office: Independently validate and report the trading desks’ exposures and P&L, monitor risk limits and investigate changes or discrepancies.
• Freight & Chartering: Support vessel-chartering activities by analysing freight markets, assessing voyage economics and helping to optimise the safe and efficient movement of cargoes.
• Marine Assurance: Support vessel-vetting and marine risk processes to ensure ships and shipping activities meet Ampol’s safety, operational and regulatory standards.
• Settlements: Support the accurate and timely settlement of physical and financial trades by validating pricing, quantities, invoices and contractual terms and resolving discrepancies with internal and external stakeholders.

At the end of the program, each graduate’s permanent placement will be reviewed based on their interests, performance and the availability of suitable roles within the business.

Program Eligibility

To be eligible for the T&S Graduate Programme, you should:

• Be in the final year of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline. We welcome applicants from Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics and other STEM disciplines, as well as Economics, Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Business and related fields
• Be graduating between December 2026 and July 2027
• Hold the right to work in Singapore
• Be available to commence full-time employment in January or July 2027

About You

We are looking for curious, commercially minded graduates interested in a career across energy trading, commercial risk and analytics.

You will bring a strong academic record, analytical and problem-solving skills, commercial or financial acumen, and the ability to communicate clearly and work well with others. An interest in data, AI, programming or digital tools will be highly valued.

Most importantly, you will have a genuine interest in the Oil Trading & Shipping industry, with the curiosity and learning agility to thrive in a fast-paced environment and develop across both commercial and risk-focused rotations.

The recruitment process for our graduates is as follows:

• Submit your application: What to include? Personal details, CV, Transcripts, and right-to-work evidence. 
• Complete a video interview: Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a digital interview and psychometric testing. A fair and equitable review of your skills, background, and motivations will take place by the Recruitment Team. 
• Shortlisted applicants will attend an assessment session - What to expect? A chance for you to bring your best self and hear from us, you will undertake an assessment centre over two days in late November.  
• Offers: Formal offers and pre-employment checks are undertaken.  
• Commence Graduate program in January OR July 2027: Ampol’s Singapore grad program goes for three years and involves up to six rotations.
